ππΎπ§©ππβοΈπ₯°π» Beachside Cafe is a Local Treasure!
π I have now been to this delightful cafe over 12 times since moving to Christies Beach less than a month ago. I have come into Ripple & Swirl alone, with my friends, small family, and with Paquita, our support dog in training, and have yet to be disappointed.
πΎ The pups stay outside on porch seating area (my fav. spot to be although I am no pup) and are welcomed with a drinking bucket (just ask if you don't see it).π§
𧩠There are many places to sit outside and inside, so lots of choices for us picky folks. There are many different sizes of tables and also accommodation seating in the back area for a quieter space to eat or be with those who may require a more calm space for their sensory needs.
ππ This authentic staple for the Christies Beach area is located in a great spot and parking isn't actually too bad. This is a treasure to locals and appears to be family owned and managed, so mind your manners y'all. The service is thorough and if you ask, they will help you with anything you need.
βοΈ My favourite barista is older and clearly knows what he is doing π I always want more βοΈ .....side note #1 βͺοΈ Confession... I did accidentally break a coffee cup once and they were kind to me about the mess. πThank you for not making me feel worse than I already did. π
π₯° You may find thoughtful and cute little touches like lil' adorable chocolate Easter Eggs on your spoons with your coffees on Easter Holiday making it extra cute and special. .....side note #2 π£ Don't be snarky and think or say, "well, there is a surcharge on Public Holidays, so it's the least they can do..." π Please y'all give us a freakin break, they don't EVEN NEED to be open, nor do they NEED to do cute adorable lil' special little things for their customers - BUT alas! - They WANT to and so they do. π π (and if you are wondering... Yes, this is for the nincompoop who made a comment at the table next to me, officially you are an idiot. No soup for YOU!)
π» On the topic of being open when we need it the most, π€© Ripple & Swirl Cafe does a fantastic job managing the flood of families and funky and fun general public that enter their doors during the holidays and weekends. I have seen many happy families, friends, eclectic individuals and partners come through or park their bicycles on the side of and then leave refreshed and with happy full bellies. As per all beach cafes, on the weekends they are more busy as many come to Christies for the waves and play.
R&SC, I have very few suggestions for improvement, as I don't truly know what happens during the many seasons of your lovely quaint and busy cafe - I'm only a new local you see and why should I give you suggestions on how to run your niche business? If you want to know, here it is π° In my creative mind (where naturally I have won the lotto) I would gift you money to build on top so that Christies can have more people in the Ripple & Swirl! So, basically my suggestion is MORE Riple More Swirl and MORE Cafe! YAY! Stay true and stay you.
Love from: Your newest local gal, Lisa (& Paquita πΎ ) Good luck getting rid of me now π π΄ββ οΈ π₯° βοΈ π² PS I owe you...
Β Β Β Read moreI ordered a seafood combo, I asked not to come scallop and instead I asked some extra squid. The person understood and agreed. When I received it I realised that didnβt come prawns. So, I told another staff member what I had ordered. Then the person that I put my order through came to my table and said β I saw the prawn in your plateβ, so I said are you saying that I have eaten it? And she said β yes, you might should have, because it was in your plateβ in front of her I flipped the fish and it was underneath my fish, everything crumbled. I thought the prawn was coming as most of places in Australia, but not crumble. But she just assumed that I want to have another prawn and not to pay it. Very rude and impolite staff! The food was okay, good, but the customer service was the worst I have ever found in Australia. Iβm local, I was planning to come back, but no, I cannot come back and see this staff member face. Very unhappy person with no social skills for her position. She could have handled it in a much easier way. I am sorry for the owner of this place and if she is the owner this place will never grow. If you ever find a person with the same complaint like me just say : β sorry about eat, but are you sure? Our prawn is crumbled, if you havenβt eaten you will find it soonβ With a smile in your face and not assuming that the customer want to have advantage of the restaurant. Very unpleasant situation...
Β Β Β Read more**EDIT: Owner is very arrogant in responding to their customers reviews! Instead of being so uptight and snap at customers who give you less than what you want, is part of being a reviewer. Perhaps accept what customers say, even if it's not up to your arrogant and self entitled standards!
Had the Spinach and feta pastry with salad, $12 pretty disappointed in the lengthy time it took to get takeaway. The pastry tasted old, from day before (as pastry tastes and is different after refrigerated). This was old pastry with hardly any feta in it. Warmed up only (the bottom of pastry was still cold and hatd). Pastry in general was pretty bland.
The salad was only a few bits of old left over salad, old cucumber and few cherry tomatoes halved and drizzled with really strong balsamic vinegar.
Overpriced food for what the quality is like, went early morning so it wasn't busy at all. Would not recommend, unless you want to pay $12 for a stale pastry and tiny salad. Will not be returning.
Quality: 1/5 Price: 1/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 1/5
The place looks cold and uninviting.
To owner: Perhaps change your food quality to reflect on the prices. There's no way what I ate was $12 worthy. More like $6 max...
