I've been to Toriki randomly in the last 6 months around 5 times. I do enjoy the food and location of the restaurant. Really happy there's a local Japanese eat in the Northern suburbs. Friendly staff and I do like how they try and introduce new menu items.
The downside of this restaurant is the service is very slow. I thought that maybe if I had gone once or twice it could have been that they unexpectedly had unplanned shortages of staff that day. However, because I've gone multiple times during dinner time which is peak and each time I've experienced the same thing. I really think the restaurant does not hire enough kitchen and front staff. Minimum wait for food is half an hour. But last night was the longest. We didn't even get our food ordered until 45 minutes of wait. I can see kitchen staff very stressed cooking and bringing food out. I feel for the staff but at the same time I felt like I wasted a lot of my time waiting.

Read more1st time here tonight. Small place in the backstreet and nothing much to look at. Waiter was very polite but clearly tasked with too much for one person. Food was delivered staggered but in good time. Food was only okay and improvement is needed on flavour and consistency. Serving size is good value and prices overall are on the cheaper side (3ppl with mains each and entree each and soft drink each was $95)
Although it wasn't a bad experience I wont be rushing back but wouldn't say no to returning providing the food quality is lifted. I had the teriyaki beef bento very sweet and just shaved beef although good portion, partner had teriyaki chicken bento chicken was nice but under flavoured compared to mine and the chicken skin needs to be crispy not soft and chewy as it was, sister had spicy beef Bento, spice was mild to non existent and again...
