I’m extremely disappointed—not only by my recent experience with this café but especially by how they handled my legitimate concern.
I ordered a matcha latte with unsweetened almond milk through Uber Eats. I clearly specified my request in the order notes, as I am diabetic and must strictly avoid added sugars for medical reasons. Despite this, I was given a drink made with sweetened almond milk—something that could dangerously impact my blood sugar levels. For someone managing a chronic health condition like diabetes, this isn’t a minor issue—it’s a serious health risk.
After waiting over 30 minutes for my drink in the middle of winter, I couldn’t even drink it. I had to throw it out and reorder from another café. Uber Eats only refunded $1.50, which doesn't come close to compensating for the cost, time, or risk.
What made matters worse was the café’s dismissive and unprofessional response. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they told me it was my responsibility to call and confirm whether they have unsweetened almond milk, claiming they never stated they use it. That response is deeply concerning. If a café receives a clear dietary instruction—especially one with health implications—and they can't fulfill it, they have an obligation to either contact the customer or cancel the order, not silently substitute an ingredient and shift the blame.
Additionally, I find it deceptive that this business is listed as “Brunch Heaven” on Uber Eats, while on Google and at the physical location (300c ANZ Highway), the name is “Twenty Bird Cafe.” This kind of inconsistency makes it hard for customers to find accurate information or leave reviews, and I will be reporting this discrepancy to consumer protection authorities. It feels evasive and misleading.
I will also be sharing this experience, along with the café’s unapologetic response, in the Adelaide Business Group and other local forums. Customers deserve to be treated with care and respect—especially when dietary instructions are clearly communicated and involve medical conditions. This kind of oversight and attitude is unacceptable and...
Read moreCoffee prices are a complete scam and staff will just straight up lie to you. Got fleeced 7 dollars for a standard iced latte - literally just espresso and cold milk. They didnt even make it fresh they just pulled out a premade one and slapped it on the counter. Their standard flat white is $4.80 so they are charging $2.20 ostensibly for ice I guess? girl said it costs more bc it has more milk than standard cup, so I held it up against the standard cup and showed her its identical and she just shrugs. Dont appreciate liars who wont even commit to the bit.
EDIT: Just wanted to point out that the store owners are complete fraudsters and responding with an outright lie below. I personally watched them open a fridge and pull out a premade iced latte and then have the audacity to charge 7 dollars for it. 'specialty coffee' is also complete nonsense, same beans as every other rinky dink suburban...
Read moreI’m honestly very disappointed with my recent order from this café. I ordered a matcha latte with unsweetened almond milk (not cheap at $8.50), but what I received was clearly made with sweetened milk—completely altering the taste and making it undrinkable for me.
It’s frustrating because I chose this café thinking they would take special requests seriously. Instead, I waited 30 minutes for a warm drink in the middle of winter, only to receive something I couldn't even drink.
Even worse, I only got a $1.50 refund through Uber Eats for the milk, while the entire drink was ruined. I had to throw it out and reorder from another café—spending even more time and money.
This kind of mistake shows a lack of attention to detail and customer care. Please take more care with specific requests—especially when it comes to...
