In short, an Australia Day lunch that was spoiled by extremely poor customer service and a lack of general courtesy. Whilst the food itself was not bad, although nothing special by any means, it was heavily overshadowed by the very disappointing experience that we had with dealing with an honest mistake made in the busyness of the day.
We ordered our lunch on what was a very busy day for the cafe, and so we could understand that things could be missed or get confused in the busyness, and so when we had walked home with our food and then opened it to find about $3 worth of chips, not the $9.50 worth that we had ordered, we figured that the shop had forgotten to give us a package of chips. Upon returning to the shop, and following up our incorrect order, we were told that as we had placed our order there had obviously been an error made at the register, as they had put through our order of $9.50 of chips as their 'fish and chips' deal (which is $9.50). An understandable mistake, especially given the number of customers ordering. However amongst all of this there was not one apology, which was quite surprising - not when we walked back in with our food, nor when we informed them of the issue with our order, nor when they explained to us their error. Not a single word of apology, nor any offer to try and rectify the mistake. In fact, the manner in which they handled the entire situation very heavily suggested that they believed us to be at fault. We were then told, rather rudely, that if we wanted more chips we would have to pay for them - something that we had not much choice but to do, as $3 of chips weren't going to feed 11 people. We then waited for another twenty minutes, whilst our potato cakes and fish (and the handful of chips) went cold, whilst they cooked our $6 worth of chips, which was likewise disappointingly small - it was only slightly bigger than the amount that we already had. And there was still no apology. So, overall, a very unimpressive example of customer service and courtesy, and a very impressive display of how to lose clientele.
I would be very happy to discuss the above with anyone associated with the Apollo Bay Seafood Cafe, as it was a very disappointing experience, and one that I truly hope is not a...

Details: I arrived around 11:50 am. I ordered a pot and wanted to check if this restaurant serves rice or noodles with it. The waitress replied to me very quickly. I said, 'Could you please speak slowly? I don’t understand.' She still spoke quickly. And I tried to understand what she was talking about but failed. I then said, 'My English is not very good, could you please speak slower?' But she still spoke quickly. 🙃
Think about it. If you visit a new country and use your second language to communicate, and everyone speaks quickly despite your requests to slow down, how would you feel about them?
2.Untimely provision of tableware:
I ordered 2 dishes and one drink. First, I ordered the Port Mussel Pot; second, I ordered a coffee; third, I ordered fish and chips. Until I finished my pot and half of my coffee, the waiter finally realized I didn't have any tableware. 😅
Food portions are small, refer to other...
Read moreWalked early for dinner with my family. We were the 1st customer. As we entered nobody told us where to sit, no menu was given, we just saw the QR code and began our order. Then the ordering system also didn’t work well, so went to the counter to order. Thought this was how it works in this restaurant, something like self service, until people showed up after us. So customers entering after us were shown to their table, give a menu together with the specials and was advised how to order. I wonder why we were discriminated and treated differently? Any let’s talk about the food. We ordered the grilled platter for 2. Besides the squid and the scallops nothing else was grilled, it was either boiled or batter fried. For the price paid, there were no sides included in the platter. It had to be ordered separately. Quite surprising, coz we had a similar platter at another restaurant and sides were included in. While the food tasted average the price is a complete rip off. Do not...
