Waves Cafe — Restaurant in Apollo Bay

Never again. Was disappointed by the service two years in a row. I came here last year waited a long time before the food came out and a year later the exact same thing, and for the same reason. Group tours! This business prioritizes group tours over walkins. I had to wait 50 minutes for 2 crepes whilst the tour group who sat down at the same time got their lunch crepes and then dessert dessert crepes before us. What made it worse was a couple who came 30 minutes after us got their milshakes and crepes 10 minutes before us. We ran out of time and had to take the food home with us and we weren't offered a refund for the additional dine in fee they charge. Its not the money but the principle that matters to me. Came in for lunch, the cafe looks nice and has a good atmosphere, it did feel like the heater was on today as it was very hot inside. I ordered a ham/cheese croissant, crepe and 2 milkshakes, the croissant was nice however very pricey for the size, the crepe was fresh with a very nice vanilla bean ice cream, the milkshakes (lime and chocolate) had way too much syrup in them almost un-drinkable and I’m a sweet tooth. From my own hospitality experience I would recommend the staff that made the shakes to tweak the mixture of syrup and milk ratios slightly. 40 minutes to wait for 4 crepes... what rate I should make... Unbelievable slowly staff in the kitchen. The waiters was kind, but confused with finding the table numbers. The managment needs to improve a lot. This tourist area can be very busy especially summer time, but the owners needs to be ready for that... Front staff on Saturdays needs more of 2 or 3 people.
