I stumbled across 2 Stroke Coffee by chance, as I had dropped by Booragoon laundromat to do some laundry. When I noticed the venue, I thought, what a great name for a coffee shop! I love word play so instantly got the reference – coffee as fuel. Simple, creative and effective.

On my visit, I ordered a takeaway flat white. So, I can’t comment on the food. That said, the food on offer looked pretty good. I spied some muffins and other tasty treats, including banana bread, as well as bacon egg and Swiss cheese sandwiches. Oh, and they serve Acai bowls too – always a great option for those looking for an energy boost to kick start their day.

Located in Applecross, the venue is tucked away just off Canning Highway. It has a pleasant, relaxed feel – almost like you’re at home or visiting a friend’s place. There are picnic tables and chairs, which adds to the homely vibe. Add to that some fake lawn (don’t worry – it works well) a few plants and you have a nice contrast of colour. Plus, they had an outdoor gas heater, which came in handy when I was there, seeing as it was a chilly 8 degrees outside!

They have a cool logo too. It’s a keep cup painted on a wall of light blue bricks, so you end up with a two-tone colour scheme, much like real-life keep cups. The venue’s name is incorporated into the logo, and some nice effects have been applied to the lettering. Plus, the ‘coffee’ in italics makes for a point of difference. I even noticed what looks like a coffee bean on the bottom of the cup – very cool.

Newspaper lovers are looked after too, with copies of the West available for reading. This is great for those days when you just want to sit and watch the world go by. The staff are friendly too, which makes for a nice experience.

Overall, 2 Stroke Coffee is a funky venue well worth...

Service and coffee is usually really good but it’s getting ridiculous with all the clowns that bring their dogs into the undercover area. Half these people can’t control their animals and often you’re trying hard not to step on some critter that won’t get out of the way. Insecure dog owners need to realise your dog doesn’t want to hang out at a cafe, it wants to go for a walk or a run. Taking it to a cafe doesn’t make you a good owner, it shows you’re an inconsiderate tool.

Otherwise, this place continues...

Best coffee in Applecross and now the best service as well. I stopped in at 2 Stroke Coffee and it was closed, George who was tiding up the furniture opened the café back up and made us coffee's. I am in business and you don't often see an employee take up their own personal time to offer fantastic service. Thanks again for going the extra mile George. My coffee stop...

Great spot to drop in for a coffee and açai bowl. Portions are reasonable for the price, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was super relaxed, it almost feels like you’re sitting in your backyard. This place is also animal friendly.
