THAIs — Restaurant in Ayr

We arrived at THAIs at around 7:30 on a week day. There were no other customers around, but we had been looking forward to trying the new Thai restaurant. The interior was really well decorated and clean - a good look for a restaurant in Ayr.

We approached the bar, where a grumpy-looking fellow stood staring at us. When we got to him, he promptly told us "no take away". Ok... not the best greeting, but after telling him we planned to eat in we took a menu and sat down. After looking over the menu (which was just a quickly thrown together page on Microsoft Word - could really use a re-design), we returned to the bar to order. We wanted one dish to be vegetarian so we asked if that instead of meat (almost all items included meat), we could have extra vegetables. The man sighed and lazily walked over to the kitchen window. He returned and told us it would be $2 extra. Two dollars extra for no meat, which is expensive, and extra vegetables, which is cheap. Interesting. We asked him if that was correct, as it didn't seem to make sense to pay more for no meat.. again he sighed and just really didn't seem to care at all.

To summarise the ending, we left and went to Cava down the street and had a great meal.

I can't give this restaurant more then 1 star, regardless of the quality of the food - not that a had a chance to try. If this guy had been at-all pleasant or at least smiled, we likely would have stayed, but I won't pay for such a...

If you want to experience the best Thai food please visit Mark and his team . The food was five star . Amazing flavors , display of food is very inviting . Also If you want to have the best Fish and chips then this is the place to go. To have all this in one restaurant is to testament to the fact that they want to bring a variety and five star food to the Burdekin . Been to a lot of Thais and Fish and Chip restaurants in my life and this is number 1 . Please do yourself and your family a favor and go and have dinner or order take away , you will not be disappointed. And the service and staff are the most friendliest I have come across . I've only heard good things about this place so was really looking forward to giving it a go for my birthday tonight after I heard they do takeaway. Unfortunately, I'll never know as when the gentleman answered the phone, his phone manner was appalling!
