While on holiday with my family, I saw an advert for this venue and it looked so good, I immediately told my wife I wanted to go. So that night we walked into the main entrance of the RSL and were greeted with a friendly smile and supportive team, how guided us through the massive venue and into the dinning room. We were the. Welcomed by lovely staff and seated in the window seats with a magical view. The bar staff were super friendly and chatted to me while making our drinks. Our food was delivered in record time and cooked perfectly. The service definitely no let down with our empty glasses and plates being collected almost as soon as we finished. Such a wonderful place for dinner in a nice relaxing atmosphere with a great view. It was so enjoyable watching the kids fishing off the pier also. Definitely will be back again when in the area.

Decor - modern, comfortable RSL, with an extensive dining area with nice views over the river. Waitstaff - friendly, welcoming and helpful. Menu - typical RSL; burgers, steak, parmigiana, fish, etc. Service - good, 18 minutes from ordering to receiving our food. Acoustics - good: soft, live music was playing, but this didn't interfere with our ability to converse. Prices - fair, reasonable value for money. Food - hmm. My grilled barramundi was great: juicy and succulent, with delicious mash and well cooked veges. My wife's marinated ribs were inedible: dry, cold, tough and massively overcooked. They were served on a bed of soggy, cold, chips with vegetables that were tepid and undercooked. We couldn't believe the difference between them. However, the waitstaff redeemed what would have been a disastrous meal. When my wife pointed out the shortcoming of her meal, it was instantly removed and then quickly replaced with another excellent grilled barramundi, along with appropriate apologies. Recommended, but watch out for the ribs.

I really wanted to like this place as its in such a good location, but outside of the great history war history section the rest was average. Upstairs is pokie central and is doing its best to get you to play the pokies. Downstairs is the dining room and to be fair the service was pretty good and all staff were nice. You walk past the history display and there is a large dining room and bar. I ordered an RSL/Pub staple, the Chicken Schnitzel with gravy. It was one of the worst I've ever had and was likely frozen. It was similar to cheap ones you would buy from woollies and just soggie/falling apart. There was barely any salad with it and even then it only had onion, cucumber and lettuce. If they can't get the staples right then I would hesitate to try anything else which by the way was hugely over priced. Basic steaks for 40-50 at an rsl is just missing the market of the target audience. Let's hope they improve and get back to what it should be about!

The Ballina RSL is located beside the Richmond River. Great location with river views. It is a very spacious venue offering dining upstairs which is Cafe style with bar facilities and the spacious Restaurant is downstairs with a large bar area. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A special mention to Noah who went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed whilst we were there. They also have entertainment and we had the privilege of seeing a band play, "The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly Tribute Show', which was absolutely outstanding! Recommend.

Great for coffee and cake or meals in the restaurant. Very popular with the seniors. Shows are good too
