We recently had the pleasure of dining at Aamaya Indian Restaurant in Hamilton, Brisbane, and I must say it was a delightful experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable evening. For starters, we ordered the Onion Baja, and it was a great choice. The batter was light and crispy, and the onions were perfectly cooked. The dish had just the right amount of spice, adding a flavorful kick to the overall taste. Next, we tried the Hara Bhara Kebab, and it was a highlight of the evening. These delicate little disks of green were beautifully prepared, and the spinach really shone through. The kebabs were incredibly soft and practically melted in our mouths, leaving us wanting more. The Nann breads were an unexpected delight. They were light, crispy, and had a fragrant aroma that added an extra layer of flavor to our meal. They were the perfect accompaniment to the curries we ordered. We opted for the Vindaloo (lamb), Korma (chicken), and Paneer Pasanda. We requested them to be prepared "Indian hot," and while the flavors were fantastic, we were hoping for a bit more heat. Nonetheless, the curries were rich in taste, and the meat was of excellent quality - tender, moist, and bursting with flavor. The service at Aamaya Indian Restaurant was top-notch. The staff was attentive, and our wine arrived promptly. However, there was one small hiccup in the service when we were hurried along to finish our starters because the mains were ready. We would have appreciated a bit more time to savor our appetizers. The restaurant's atmosphere was another aspect we thoroughly enjoyed. The style and decor added to the overall dining experience, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. Overall, we had a fantastic dinner at Aamaya Indian Restaurant, and we would gladly return for another meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to all Indian cuisine enthusiasts.

We love Indian food Midweek Thursdays or Fridays. Particularly, we are fans of the cuisine from the Punjab, a region split by the Pakistan-Indian border. The regional food was made famous for its use of the Tandoori oven. (And of course the region is also famous for the religion of the Sikhs. If you surname is Singh and you don't cut your hair on your head, you are probably a Sikh.) Our favourite naan (from the Tandoori oven) is the Naan Amini or naan stuffed with paneer and spinach. Sooo Good!!!! Aamaya doesn't disappoint. Often, we just feel like Tandoori naan and Pappadums to start of dinner. Aamaya delivered again and again! For mains, there is a good selection of vegetarian and seafood curries. We order the extra hot, which is just under Indian hot. Two of those are more than enough for the two of us. We enjoy a glass of beer or a bottle of wine to share and the restaurant has a good selection of wines that are very fairly priced!!! In finishing, I would say, if you haven't tried this restaurant give it a go. Parking at Portside wharf is free for 3 hours in the basement car park after valuation of your ticket. After dinner, we like to have a short stroll along the river and wharf. Just loveley!

This is the absolute best, authentic Indian cuisine in Brisbane and the most consistent in quality. The staff are friendly, warm and very helpful, I have dined in and ordered take-away multiple times and always receive exceptional service particularly from the beautiful waitress “Oshin” she is always smiling and ready to help create the perfect experience. When ordering from the menu, the Meat Samosa is a great option for a starter, the sauces that accompany the dish are delicious (Veg option available), for mains Lamb Rogan Josh and the Butter Chicken are the stand outs (make sure you mop the sauce up with some Garlic Naan and add some Raita). I love this restaurant, highly recommend.

Decided to celebrate my nephew’s 1st birthday at Aamaya as we had been before and knew the food was good.

And yet again, this time we were not disappointed and fully enjoyed the food. However, that is where the enjoyment ends as the customer service that night was beyond appalling.

We had reserved our group of 20 with all food pre-ordered a week in advance – definitely ample time to prepare. However, the service was so extremely slow. We arrived at 6pm and got our entrees a bit slow but in acceptable time. Then came the mains, despite asking at least 3 times for mains to be served, they were not to be until past 8.40pm. At this stage all the guests were tired and starving. Let us not mention the state of the one year old….

No one at the table was happy with the service so, I expressed my disappointment to the manager on duty. As upset as I was, I was nothing but polite. The manager’s excuse was that because 4 of our guests came late, they had yet to finish their entrée and THEREFORE they could not serve mains. To this I was quite literally speechless, even if the hosts ask for mains, it is not possible because… why? Some people hadn’t finished? Because restaurant policy? Secondly, the manager points out, they were understaffed due to 2 staff being sick. She goes on to seemingly apologies for our trouble but goes on to say “Given the circumstances, I think my staff did a great job tonight”! If it was just miscommunication or store policy (that cannot serve mains before everyone is ready) so be it. But the general conduct of the staff was hard to believable.

They showed absolutely no initiative to clear empty plates, dirty cutlery or empty cups and beer bottles. It was painstaking to ask, for every little thing, multiple times to be either brought to us or taken away from us (clear the table pLeAsE!). At one point I even had to walk over myself to grab plates for some of the guests so they had something to eat their mains off.

But what really drove the nails in was the drink situation… Not only did it take over 15min per drink but when they did bring the drinks, they would place the drink down and walk back to the kitchen with both hands equally as empty as the other. =.= Lack of staff maybe, but lack of common sense and training? Definitely.

In the end we didn’t finished dinner till 9.30pm. Little one? Tired. Adults? Tired with most needing to work the next day. I asked for possibility of discount but was of course flatly refused. I didn’t try to persuade the manager and most definitely didn’t ask twice, because I shouldn’t have to. If you give such service and don’t see the problem with it, then talking to you like talking to brick wall – waste of energy. Most people have sometime in their lives (me included) worked in hospitality. If this review offends you Your not cut out for this industry OR Step up your game.

Working in hospitality is a privilege that gives you the ability to bring people together with great food and service. In fact hospitality is a noun “friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests”. Great customer service shouldn’t be an extra - it’s a given.

P.S after reading other review, I can see owner is very rude to reviews that give bad review. Always denying and even say that customer lying! I have attached some snap shots of the rude responses as well as a help sheet on the correct way to respond to complaints. I am afraid that the owner will bully me and deny everything with his "CCTV"...

Indecent and Cruel behaviour by the restaurant staff ( in a blue attire)

our reply to the so called owner!!!

Thanks for coming back to us and taking time to consult with expertise to revert back. Though you reply has very careful attention towards child safety and constructive work place safety, where were you when we raised the concern straight on your face. It is very shame on you to get a expert to write this response. As much as we felt during the conversation with you at the restaurant, you didn't show any humanity or respect or even the polished language that you come up with now.

You are taking the advantage of foot print disclosure agreement to falsify the information to the public, the reason is... we were closely watching our son and he only stepped out from his high chair after a while, this gives you a response that we haven't let him on the floor carelessly. he hasn't cross the passage nor gone to any of the serving table, and not touched any of your stuff on the table. he was not hiding and in fact he was watching outside. your footprint will disclose how you reacted to the kid even if it is a safety concern, that shows how immature and knowledge you got to react to safety incidents. you said you want to have peaceful dine with your friends outside during the restaurant time and that is your reason for the show off to an 18 month old boy, yes Mr owner how do you respond to this incident. Did you raised your safety concern to us? rather you raised your voice in front other customers. When we returned to the pay off the bill, why you returned from your peaceful dining???and show off your bossy attitude?.You mentioned about our lecture , does that lecture gave you a sense to react in future or at least to behave sensible to a kid. Yes as you said we have nothing to say to you being a rude owner (Thanks for letting us know your role) and sublet you to the category you shown to the public with fabricated response.

Initial complaint. As a ongoing customer we decided to have a dine at this restaurant with my family and our parents who came for a holiday visit. It is with great pain I would like to express the cruel behavior by one of the staff to my 18 month old baby. This guy has starred at my little boy and also warned us rudely in front of other customers to take care of our boy when he was just walking inside the restaurant while we were closely watching him. There were no crowd during this time and our boy was just walking and that too not causing any hindrance to passage. This cruel man was talking with his friends outside and came in to show his cruelty to my little boy. We were shocked to see this rude behavior and also his attitude when we raised this concern. He was not bothered when we asked him and his attitude was so rude by saying us to go and complain wherever we want. We are not going to leave this Issue here. My wife left the dish without having anything after seeing all his drama to our boy. This is the first time we have faced this kind of behavior in Australia, he has not even considered the value of a...
