Was expecting a nice evening at this Korean restaurant for my daughter's birthday. Have lived in Korea previously so am not unfamiliar with the cuisine. Came in to book a table 4 days prior with Valentina (waitress), even offered to pay deposit, which wasn’t required. On the night of meal my husband went in 20 mins prior to advise that we were having an aperitif next door. Arrived at the restaurant a little while later and found 2 people sat at our reserved booth. Restaurant staff were in a state of chaos, not helped by the fact that they were obsessed with filming a video…..possibly influencers. Manageress (Vanessa) made excuses for not saving the table and offered to ask the table occupants to move ‘mid-meal’. We said that was not fair to the other diners and asked for another table. In fairness Vanessa did offer us a free bottle of wine……we selected the lowest priced Pinot Noir. Then ordered the most expensive set menu ($159 pp). Vanessa came over with the meat, explained what was being served and started to cook at the table, saying she was happy to cook for us. Suddenly she disappeared and never returned. When the meat started to burn we decided to take over and try to save the meat (Wagyu)………too late, as was already burnt. The restaurant was clearly short staffed, as such with no direction as to what to do next we decided to leave. Vanessa was extremely aggressive and tried to insist that we pay for all of the raw meat that was left on the table. In the end we paid for what we had consumed ($196) as opposed to what would have ended up as a $700-$800 meal…..no issue paying good money for good food and service. Vanessa admitted that their service was poor as the owner of the restaurant had not allocated enough staff. Real shame for my daughter celebrating her 19th birthday and looking forward to a good night. Real shame for Brisbane that another new restaurant opens but is badly managed and completely disorganised. Sadly for whomever has the money to set up what looks like an aesthetically pleasing restaurant, unless you can fix your service then you have clearly wasted your money. If you want to fix things then allocate more staff and get a new manager who is suited to customer service and good hospitality. I can't give 0/5 unfortunately but that is what the rating should be……..very disappointed!
PS. I would not normally waste my time writing all of this but in all my years of dining out this is the very worst dining experience ever.......mainly due to the shocking service and management.......shame on Marble Korean Steakhouse.
Thank you Simon for your reply after several weeks ……..considering I never met you , spoke to you or even dealt with you on the evening but you apparently seem to or recall what happened during the evening, I find astounding . You clearly did not even read my review as if you did you would’ve noticed that Vanessa had left all of the raw meat uncooked on the table she offered to cook for us after she disappeared (apart from the Wagyu she left burning ) . Vanessa also apologised to my guest when he went back in to retrieve his phone and said she was sorry and that the “owner” had not allocated her enough staff to look after the guests that night. After checking more into your restaurant I believe you and Vanessa are married and are the owners of the restaurant, therefore no wonder you have bought the story your wife has given you , again not very professional how you have dealt with this complaint. I honestly wish my review was a lie but nothing in it is we only wanted a nice night out. It is a Shame as a lovely fit out of the place just extremely poorly run and owned and managed by amateurs. Keep treating guests like this in person and in writing your business won’t survive in this market and nor should it …..again shame on you Marble...
Read moreI was really excited to have a good korean place in the area so we didn't have to go to the city or sunnybank. Keyword "was"....
My partner and I just got back from a trip to seoul, busan and jinhae over Easter so authentic korean was fresh in our memory.
We own a business in Hamilton with a few hundred clients a week and shes korean so everyone kept asking her what this place was like, therefore we had to try it to let all our clients know.
We arrived excited that we would now have a local korean restaurant to call our home.
Unfortunately we don't have good things to report..... where do I start.....
450 bucks for two people, a few wines and soju.... European waiters.... nobody spoke korean....
The true test.. kimchi jigae... 1 mouthful I had to spit out... chewy pork.. so sweet and sour it could of been mcdonalds nugget sauce....... the garinjim.... tasted like a bottle of sesame oil... spat that out.... the kimchi itself looked and tasted like a cadaver.... the samjang.... fresh made? Ok cool.... tasted like they mixed peanut paste in it.... 2 catnip? 2 lettuce.... no fresh gochu.... had to ask... yeah ok the meat was top quality can't complain about that, but if im cooking my own bbq don't come and touch it, atleast ask first.... probably the worst korean bbq in Brisbane.... a nice wine list doesn't make up for the rest.... I could buy a pack of bulduk, some kimchi and wagyu from hanaromart and feed both of us for 50 bucks... ungodly bad.... I hope sajangnim reads this, better sort your business model out or your going bankrupt. Byblos and gianis were packed, because they make good food for a reasonable price. I'm mad because I still have to drive to the city or sunnybank for edible korean... such a shame... shows your reviews are bots or friends, or seo companies. I feel bad leaving such a scathing review.... but my intentions are good, wake up sajangnim, it's a disaster, we would spend 1000 at sono and leave happy... should of went there ..... could of had the seafood bamquet at fosh and still had change compared.... Anyone reading this, forget this place, go to meet and meat, bornga, headuri or even maru for better korean. I hope this review makes you wake up. As a local business owner i know how brutal 1 star review can be so i wont do that.. but i hope you read this.......
Read moreWe had an amazing time at Marble! From the moment we sat down, it was clear that a lot of care goes into everything they do. The meats were top quality, the soup was rich with flavour and the side dishes were fresh, balanced, and authentic! You could really taste the effort behind every element of the meal.
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain how long to cook each type of meat for the best result. It made the experience feel even more considered and enjoyable, especially for anyone who might not be familiar with Korean BBQ. They also explained their cleverly designed underground exhaust system, which keeps the smoke levels low without compromising the beautiful interior. It was a thoughtful detail that really stood out.
It was a full house the night we visited(rightfully so), and while the team seemed a bit stretched with the unexpected volume of walk-ins, they still worked hard to make sure everyone was looked after. If you’ve had Korean BBQ before, you’ll know it’s a meal you cook yourself at the table. that’s part of the fun, and the staff made sure we were set up for success checking in regularly and offering support where needed.
We were seated near a table who unfortunately didn’t have the same experience. After eating and drinking a fair amount, they tried to leave without paying for most of their meal, which was disappointing to witness. From what we saw, the staff handled the situation with professionalism while continuing to care for the rest of the busy restaurant. It’s worth remembering that new venues sometimes take time to find their rhythm, and this team was clearly doing their best under pressure.
All in all, we had a fantastic night. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Marble to anyone who appreciates great Korean BBQ and thoughtful...
