So this is how a franchise gets it so wrong, and then wonders why the business goes south. It's sad really but perhaps reviews help the franchisee to see that all is not well with the business so they can do something about it before it's too late. Here is the experience: Dined there tonight with my wife. We ordered sangria and were told that they had not made their sangria for the night. We were surprised but fair enough, that can happen. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was put on the table with two glasses, not suggestion of an ice bucket. We asked for one and it turned up. All OK so far. These things happen. Servers forget or are distracted. This is the part we found really disappointing: ordered taco salads and what came out to the table was about half the size meal that we would normally have at Burrito Bar. It was tiny! I mentioned it to the server and he said that yes he noticed it too but that the kitchen had serving sizes to go by and, well, this was it. He said that previous people in the kitchen had not followed the server size recommendation and so, effectively, we had been lucky in the past but that was then and this was now, and what we saw was the correct serving size according to Burrito Bar standards. Too bad, so sad. Now we have eaten at Burrito Bar in multiple locations and the great thing about them is that there is a consistency in the portion size wherever you go. No one has even tried to pull this stunt before and it's so silly because we have tonight made the decision that we will not be a returning customer. So here is the thing if the franchisee is listening (or cares), scrimping on ingredients to save a few bucks and them pointing to some nebulous serving standard to justify it, just doesn't work. You have saved 30% on your ingredients and risk alienating 70% of your customers. It's simply NOT good business. So long Burrito Bar. It was walking distance from home and provided a light and easy meal on a week night - but there are lots of other places in the Portside that treat their customers...
Read moreExtremely upset with the service Sunday just gone. We were told 10-15 minutes for two churros for our toddler and us to share while we waited for our daughter at a birthday party close by. There was only two other small groups who had already ordered in the store and this was reasonable with our timeframe. Then the boss and his family came and ordered AFTER us a whole heap of food and churros etc. 40 minutes later they had finished their food and our simple order was still not ready. When my husband went up with our screaming child because she was really sad as we were patient and promised her it wouldn't be long and the girl behind the counter was extremely sassy and rude and lied to his face. I'm sorry but you shouldn't prioritise the bosses huge order who ordered after us, especially when our order was so small. 40 minutes for two stone cold churros and runny ice cream is unacceptable and poor customer service, not to mention the disgusting attitude from this girl and blatant ignorance from the owner who just watched while this all happened without blinking an eye. If you obviously loose an order apologise and maybe be nice about it. And I don't care if you are the owner and even if its your day off, if this happens to a customer you step in...
Read moreTwo weeks ago I went to the burrito bar at portside wharf with my partner. I witnessed the staff accidentally give my partners burrito to someone else, then take it back to the kitchen after it had been opened, to have it quickly wrapped up again and given to my partner. This is absolutely appalling. We confronted the man working behind the counter about what I saw and he eventually admitted to doing it, but also said that the burrito hadn't been touched.. which is a lie. After politely asking for our money back (because there's no way my partner was going to eat that burrito), the man behind the counter threw the burrito in the bin very loudly, huffed, puffed and yelled something in his native language. I don't think I have ever experienced this kind of behaviour from any staff at any restaurant in my entire life. It was beyond unprofessional and was just absolutely disgusting. It certainly made me wonder what kind of standards they have if they think it's ok to give someone food that other people have already opened and touched....
