I recently had the opportunity to visit Auntie & Gusto Café, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. When I entered the café, I was met with a lacklustre atmosphere and subpar service. Regrettably, my disappointment did not end there, as I observed the unfair treatment of one of their employees, Nick.
Let us start with the café itself. The ambience was uninspiring, with dull decor and a general lack of character. The seating arrangements felt cramped and uncomfortable, making relaxing and enjoying my time there challenging. The noise level was also relatively high, making it difficult to hold a conversation.
The service at Aunte & Gusto could have been better. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, failing to provide prompt service or a warm welcome. Orders took an excessively long time to arrive, and when they did, they often needed to be corrected or better executed. It was evident that the staff needed proper training and motivation.
However, the most disheartening aspect of my visit was witnessing the unfair treatment of Nick, one of the café's employees. Throughout my time there, I noticed Nick being assigned the most menial tasks and receiving criticism for minor mistakes while other employees were given more fulfilling responsibilities. Clearly, he was being unfairly singled out and undervalued by the management.
Aunte & Gusto Café has fallen short of providing a pleasant dining experience. The lacklustre atmosphere, subpar service, and the unfair treatment of Nick all contribute to my disappointing rating of two stars. Establishments must treat their employees with respect and fairness, as it directly affects the overall customer experience. Until the café addresses these issues and improves its standards, I cannot recommend Aunte & Gusto to others seeking a satisfying...
Read moreOrdered a budda bowl and this came out. I don't eat this (ordered take out for my wife) but it looked pretty sad.
I requested that the missing ingredients were added as per the menu item I purchased or provide me a refund. Their response was that this is the product and that the chefs are trying as hard as they can. I didn't mind waiting 25 minutes for it as they forewarned me of the (20min) wait.
The chefs reviewed and opted to do nothing but provide an espresso cup with some hommus in it and told me there wasn't any roast pumpkin or any other vegetables to supplement this dreadful dish.
This isn't a budda bowl, thus is a sub par salad with rice. Absolutely embarrassing.
On another note - I had the special which was pasta and prawns. Very tasty but overly oily and weirdly light on actual food. 5 prawns and a small handful of pasta. I was willing to chalk it down to the modern adage of less is more but in light of the above, perhaps not.
I am a new resident on the hunt for a go-to Cafe. Will definately...
Read moreSo disappointing. We live locally and have been here plenty of times during the week. Always good food and good service (during the week). This morning, we called in for late breakfast. No table service “we are too busy”. Coffee took 15mins, but very nice coffee. As always. After waiting 40 mins for food, I politely enquired where it was and was told “5 mins”. After another 10 mins I enquired again. I was told that it was just being made ready. Sadly, the order was incorrect. It had been recorded correctly, but the cook had either misinterpreted it or made a mistake. When I politely pointed the error out, and this was relayed to the cook, he started shouting and carrying on. He asked the waiter to tell us to leave as he “would not cook for us”. I’m not sure how him getting the order wrong was my fault. It is our experience that whenever the owner is in, the food and service is great. However, when he is away, it falls apart. Badly. There are other great...
