A friend and I headed out for lunch last week, and ended up at the local village. I chose here. We ate gnocchi with pumpkin and spinach (him) and beetroot-cured salmon gravalax with a poached egg and potato rosti for me. (And a glass of rosĂ©.) Yep, I loved my lunch. Fantastic rosti (housemade), purply and tasty salmon, with a fresh rocket and pear salad. The egg was soft and runny, just how I like it. I felt healthy and happy, with a mouthful of different textures and flavours. Mr L. enjoyed his handrolled gnocchi, which were tender and fluffy. The next night, I was here again with hubby who also chose the gnocchi; he also loved the fluffy pasta, and its flavoursome accompaniments. I ate fish and chips â beer-battered barramundi with salad, aioli and fries. I thought that $32 was a tad expensive for fish and chips, even though I know barra isnât cheap. It was cooked well, not oily, and the fries were deliciously soft outside, with crispy outsides. We also shared sweetcorn arancini (a bit bland) and fried cauli (tasty). All up, lovely, friendly service, a great atmosphere, fairly prompt service too considering they were jam-packed full that night with every table taken, and with several...
Read moreI was really looking forward to coming here for breakfast but was unfortunately disappointed. Customer service did not seem number one priority. The lady who serviced us was great and I would give her 5 stars however the other staff ignored tables around us and seemed only interested in the tables outside on the street who received great service. The poor people behind us just wanted a cake and coffee and waited about 20 minutes to be serviced. When we got our coffee I couldn't drink it as it was very weak and just not nice. I believe all staff should do a barista course to make sure the strong coffee they offer is strong. When our meal came my partners was great however my poached eggs were hard and pesto with eggs benadict does not work especially is someone has a nut allegery. We paid $50 for a below average breakfast. I hope things do improve as there are two brilliant cafes near by and it would be a shame to see this place fail due to these things. I hope you improve but unfortunately I don't think I will...
Read moreThe staff were slow to do anything (and there were very few customers), the coffee was a bit unpleasant. COVID sign-in was buried at the back of the menu, and we not encouraged by the staff to sign-in or anything. When we asked to swap the bacon and sausage with halloumi on the big breakfast to make it vegetarian, we told the meat could be removed but not substituted so the halloumi would be charged as a side. The breakfast menu is meat heavy, so this is not the place for you if you wish to eat vegetarian. We left before eating, I found the experience unpleasant. When asking for the coffee bill, the staff didnât recognise that weâre already customers (odd considering the discussions had to this point). In this area there are so many other places to go, choose...
