I visited this restaurant and while the food was decent, the overall experience left much to be desired.
The space is very small, with only about 8 tables, and the staff seemed disorganised and unsure of what was going on. Although they were friendly, the level of professionalism was lacking. We ordered both a dine-in and a takeaway meal, but it took four staff members to misunderstand our request and serve both meals as dine-in… before they understood the assignment. Additionally, we were told they couldn’t serve alcohol due to a licensing issue, which was odd, and when my partner requested a non-alcoholic ginger beer, we were informed five minutes later that they had run out. To top it off, the tap water served wasn’t filtered, which is particularly off-putting given the water quality in Brisbane at the moment.
On the positive side, they make good Pad See Ew and their satay sauce is very nice.
While the food was good, the series of mistakes and unprofessional atmosphere would make me hesitant to return, especially when considering other options for takeaway.
This place from my experience would be ideal for take away only.
I felt it necessary to REVISE my original review due to the owner’s response.
While I understand that the number of non-alcoholic drinks offered may vary, the core issue is about maintaining high standards for product inventory and ensuring clear communication within the team to avoid errors like the ones we experienced.
Regarding my comment about it taking four people to address my request when only “two were involved”, I’d encourage you to review the security footage. You’ll see that there were, in fact, three people at the front, and another team member came out from the back to clarify the situation. Additionally, we were mistakenly given a takeaway dish for dine-in, which is also evident on the cameras. Multiple instances of the docket being carried around could be observed as well. I would recommend considering customers’ feedback, especially when it can be substantiated with video evidence.
As for the filtered water, if the system is functioning properly, the taste does not align with expectations. If the filter is indeed working, it may be worth investigating the quality of your water, as it tasted unpleasant during our visit. Urban Water’s website might be helpful as it explains why the water tastes “off” in Brisbane and ways to improve it.
As someone who works in hospitality management, I appreciate that the owner is supportive of their team. However, dismissing customer feedback—especially when it’s supported by clear evidence—may hinder your ability to adapt and improve. Open dialogue is essential for long-term success in this industry, not dismiss customers.
Unfortunately, we will not be returning as you continue to show unprofessionalism. One mistake is fine but multiple during one seating...
Read more4.5 stars really. My Isaan Thai wife's spicy seafood was excellent and they really did make it spicy much to her delight. My Penang chicken curry had tasty sauce and chicken which though not rubbery at all, was pretty bland I guess the dish relies on the sauce, obviously the chicken is cooked separately. We bought goes-down-well wine by the glass served in classy brandy style glasses from a list of about 8 choices. We finished with a great banana and sticky rice dessert. The owner and staff are all Thai so you will get the real deal with just some Western fusion. I would like to see a few more Thai ingredients such as lemongrass or bamboo but that depends on the dish of course. My Panang curry did have crushed peanuts, maybe they could add some sprouts My main whinge is the common Thai restaurant problem. The dishes don't come together so one person can either start alone or stare and wait However this is no problem if all the dishes are shared as happens in Thailand. Friendly, fast...
Read moreFirst visit today and we decided to venture out and inspect the little indoor/outdoor Thai restaurant and order take away. Asking for a little change for the item we ordered was answered with an absolutely no problem reply:). 15-20 min was no problem either as we were invited to sit at a table and were served glasses and a bottle of water. Coming home and spreading the dishes out in front of us was a new experience, the Larb ( chicken) salad was the most generous portion I have ever had, lots of chicken , just a little lettuce , which was perfect , rather then the most times overdone big bush of lettuce to make the serve look bigger, delicious chicken satay with a beautiful satay sauce and then the beautiful crispy pork belly , and crispy it was, I asked for the pork belly to be put on top rather then mixed in, so that the pork belly stayed crispy, ( I recommend it!). Very good value for money, I think that each dish seems to be priced reasonably. Definitely a once or twice a week...
