It is the last day of winter in 2024. Temperatures are to soar 36 degrees plus. Hornets are zooming through the blue skies. Queens wharf opened its doors. The River Fire is about to launch the Brisbane Festival.
We couldn’t do another day organising and planning our day. After a great gym work out and a well deserved coffee at the Morning Roast we got showered and dressed for the day. Off to the bus station for our 50 cents ride to Southbank where we trotted the new bridge to the casino. Only to be met by a couple of lovely hosts and way to many people lined up to get in. Not to worry, Julius to the rescue, where we were served by a gorgeous girl originally from the East (pacific) coast of Russia and Roberto’s nephew from central Sicily. We were treated with cartwheels and limoncellos for desert and left on a high.
Bussed it back home where the driver thought we were tourists from Florida, USA. No, we are locals from Stones Corner! And yes, we are crazy happy people and me with a slight Dutch (Amsterdam) accent.
Crossing Old Cleveland road towards Logan road, we saw three people waving at us from the Crafty Fox. Felt like home!
And that is the moral of this review. The Crafty Fox is a family run place, where we can watch the Olympics or footy, catchup spontaneously with our friends and can afford a drink. A bottle of superb NV champagne, a glass of red from Port Philip Estate (Mornington Peninsula) for $10, a schooner of beer for $8 and so on. Who doesn’t want to travel home and be greeted by their best mates! Go Crafty Fox!
It gets better. We were at Craft tasting some beauties from Coldstream in the Yarra valley with Dom You guessed it. Dom knows the Crafty Fox owner and said “Anything you like. I’ll organise it to come on the menu”
Finally, let’s support this family run business and enjoy, secure the best things in life maintain a spot in...
Read moreA Fantastic Afternoon at The Crafty Fox!
I went to The Crafty Fox at Stones Corner for the first time yesterday and had a truly wonderful afternoon. I was there with my partner, my best friend, and her dog. I enjoyed a few very well-made espresso martinis, and all of us were seriously impressed with the food.
The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. When I went up to order my meal, I meant to ask for a chicken parmigiana but accidentally said "chicken schnitzel" instead. So when our meals came out, I politely mentioned that I had ordered a parmigiana. The staff were immediately apologetic and took the meal back to fix it without any fuss.
While I was waiting, I started thinking maybe I was the one who made the mistake — and sure enough, my girlfriend confirmed I had actually ordered schnitzel by accident. I quickly went back up to apologise and offered to pay the difference. Both the lovely bartender and a gentleman who I believe was the owner were incredibly kind about it and wouldn't let me pay anything extra.
A few minutes later, my parmigiana arrived and honestly, it was the best I've ever had!!! It was a really generous size, made from real, juicy chicken, crumbed beautifully (possibly with a bit of panko for extra crunch) and cooked to perfection. Luckily, I hadn't eaten yet that day because it was so damn good I couldn’t help but finish the whole thing!
Throughout the night, the customer service continued to be spectacular — always smiling, warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Honestly, it was better than what I've experienced anywhere else in a long time.
I would absolutely recommend The Crafty Fox to anyone. There aren’t many places that genuinely tick so many boxes: delicious food, amazing service, excellent espresso martinis, a lovely relaxed atmosphere and a good location.

Read moreCan't begin to express my disappointment. We've been going to crafty fox since it first opened (taking over from the yardbird closure). Originally it was FANTASTIC. Food was top notch, knowledgeable staff and a wide array of craft beer both on tap and in cans. In my opinion, it was once in the league of brewski, scratch etc.
It steadily went downhill over the years so we were excited when we saw a sign out the front saying it was being refurbished and they were under new management. Somehow, they've made it worse than it was a few weeks ago.
We went for the first day of trade and it my heart sank. Beer selection is pretty lacklustre and the bartender who served me clearly hadn't worked a day behind a bar in his life (good thing I didn't want a recommendation). A good craft place will hire staff who know what they are talking about.....let alone someone who has never poured a beer in the lives.
The food was pretty bad and overpriced. Around $16 got us a small "dirty fries" which were advertised as having a cheese sauce and bacon but came with congealed grated cheese and and bacon. The frickles were just okay albeit a.little soggy, but for $16 there were 5 or 6 pieces, and more micro herbs?
Before reopening, they had posted some photos and made a big deal of their staff getting a visit from a campari rep but when I had a look at the cocktail menu, no campari to be seen?????
There's the little things too. Dogs used to get a bowl of water brought out for them. We had our dog and another table had another, and nada.
I made a comment on their Instagram giving feedback in our experience, and it got "accidentally" deleted and I got messaged privately.
I assume this place is still tied to greenslopes cellars, so...
