At first I was worried when Maroon 5 were playing as we entered but I am coming to terms with the fact that though I dislike their music, they have been a popular band for many years. Huge and tasty serving sizes. Nice customer service that wasn't over the top or contrived. Perfect piccolo. Sweet and refreshing Iced Chai. Spanish omelette was muy bien. Truffle scramble was resplendent with ample truffle flavours lashing the tongue with unrestrained fervour and a rocket with parmesan side that balanced the scales on your palate to declare justice for all taste buds. I have seen reviews criticising the toilets. Personally I go to cafes for the food, coffee and ambience, not to bask in the wonder of their latrines. My wife and I both used said lavatory and you know what? It functioned correctly and disposed of our waste more than adequately. There was a vacuum cleaner in the room, but it was a decent Ryobi wet and dry model which I believe would more than do the job. It is no longer in the room as I felt it was so good I should have it myself. I look forward to trying to get it on the plane home with me. (I didn't actually steal the vacuum cleaner for those wondering and playing along at home). All in all a great spot for a bite and coffee, with adequate toilet facilities if you do need to...
Read moreJust found about Stones Throw at Stones Corner on Instagram today and my partner and I decided to give it a try, which turned out to be fantastic. The place was cozy, homey and inviting, with a variety of seating choices. The service was brilliant and the staff were super nice and welcoming. I ordered the Belaroma Original and a skinny cappuccino and my partner ordered the mushroom Medley and a soy flat white. One of the things I really liked about the food was that neither of our dishes were greasy, which is always an issue for me while eating out. The sourdough was tangy and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, which was quite a nice balance. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked, not too runny or dry and the smashed avo on top just took the whole dish to a higher level. My fave part of the dish was the seeded mustard relish, which is out of this planet. It added the right amount of acidity to the dish and was so rich in flavor. Almost everything on their menu looked nice and we came so close to ordering the pancakes but decided against it. We will have to come back for them next time we are in the neighborhood. In general, we really enjoyed our time there and will come back for more...
Read moreI have bought cold brew coffee here for many years and always enjoyed it. It was never the best cold brew but it was decent enough to leave me satisfied. Stones Throw recently changed hands and the new owners don't seem to know what they are doing with cold brew.
I saw him fumbling with plastic cups then pouring cold coffee from a big square tub before he blasted it with something from the coffee machine. I asked him what he was doing as I've never seen cold brew done like that. He was confused about my question at first then said he was putting cold water in the cold brew.
I don't know if it was because of the water from the coffee machine or the way they brew their concentrate (concentrates rarely taste as good in my experience but if done well are fine) but the result was undrinkable. I took a few sips then gave it some time, took a few more small sips but the taste didnt improve so I left most of the annoyingly large $6.60 plastic cup of coffee on the counter and left.
Stones Corner is known for its coffee shops so I have many other options in the area, its just disappointing that my goto place went from top of the pile...
