Made our first visit to Farmhouse Kedron today, based on the enticing menu and many high reviews.
Having booked earlier in the week, we were immediately seated. The venue itself is inviting and spacious, with ample indoor and outdoor seating.
The staff, from beginning to end, were friendly and provided regular service, even though they were almost filled to capacity and thus very busy. The gent at the front counter was very good, establishing we were first-timers and giving us a detailed rundown of both the specials board and ordering process.
We ordered the Duck Confit Salad and Green Bowl as our meals. The duck was perfectly cooked; tender, moist and flavoursome. The accompanying salad was less impactful and, had it not been for the impressive rhubarb chutney, could have been lacklustre.
Although the duck came with a rocket & fennel salad, I instead received a bowl of kale. I challenged the staff on this and was told, after the fact, that a substitution had been made based on the recent produce price hike. Although I enjoy kale and wasn't bothered by the change, I did highlight that other customers may not be so forgiving. To the staff's credit, they immediately made the online amendment to ensure menu accuracy.
My wife enjoyed her Green Bowl which both looked and tasted great. Healthy yet tasty is always a good thing.
As for drinks, we had both been excited about ordering the vegan smoothies. My wife, especially, was keen to try the Javanana as that ticked many boxes: no dairy, coffee, peanut butter AND chocolate. Sadly, and somewhat confusingly, the entire range of vegan smoothies was out of stock due to a banana shortage. Hardly a rare commodity so not sure what went wrong. We therefore had to settle for a flat white and Chai latte, both of which we enjoyed.
In summary, Farmhouse Kedron displayed many positives. The venue, staff and food quality were all above average and mostly without fault. Had it not been for the unannounced ingredient change and the out of stock smoothies, this would likely have been a 5...
Read moreWhen people ask me for food recommendations in Brisbane, my top 3 suggestions are FARMHOUSE, FARMHOUSE, and FARMHOUSE.
Always 10/10 great food, service, atmosphere and company ethics.
If you can't tell, I absolutely love this place. I've gone for so many years with family and friends, and have never had a bad experience. The food is excellent. Such an authentic, creative and exciting range of food in their menu. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, a meat lover, whatever your style is.. you’ll surely find something here. I have found over the years that they’ve expanded their range in different cuisines.. extracting ideas from different cultures. You can find Thai, Italian to even Indonesian types of dishes here now; with off course, their own twist. For example- a personal favourite of mine- spaghetti bolognese with jackfruit instead of beef! Honestly, I would now, always choose that option instead of the traditional style. It’s just that good. I love how everything is so sustainable too. Everything from their cutlery to decorations are all so organic. They have plants all over the place that makes you feel so serene. I always go to ‘Farmhouse’ when I’m feeling a bit stressed. Whether it’s just for a coffee or their oh so refreshing smoothies, you can count to always feel better. The staff are always so great as well. They’re all so down to Earth and make you feel so special. Even when they’re busy, they still have great service. I love their new ordering system too. I still love going up to the counter (where you see their semi open kitchen space) but I love the flexibility of being able to order online. Love how it’s next to a gelato place too. Just want to mention how great their social media platforms are. I always send their Instagram page to my friends for recommendations. They all have come back to me saying that they love it.
Overall- EXCELLENT FOOD, excellent staff, amazing vibe, great interior and design (bathrooms are always clean as well), such a great environment. Well done Farmhouse....
Read moreFrom the moment I stepped into Farmhouse @Kedron for the first time, my thoughts immediately brought me back to the much loved Farmer Joe’s Market that I used to visit with my mother driving over from the Southside of Brisbane. What a beautiful surprise it was to open up the menu only to read that Farmhouse Kedron’s owners and management were committed to continuing on the values that were dear to Farmer Joe- that sense of community, of neighbours gathering in a familiar, an inviting place focussed on plating good food made from the freshest market produce and, in a world of mass production, taking the time that an artisan does to create cuisine that is as exciting as it is comforting! It was like coming home to gather round the table of abundance! So, being of Italian descent, I couldn’t go past the Pizza with prosciutto crudo, shavings of mouth-watering Parmesan and healthy fresh from the farm salad. But the jewel in the crown in this pizza was the sauce- the tomato sugo- a little piccante but oh so moreish! Every bite was a delight and no meal for me is truly complete without a cafe’! The cappuccino was no exception- smooth and just so meraviglioso! The staff were courteous and oh so attentive even making sure the final goodbye was said as we stepped back out into the sunny streets of Kedron. Thank you Farmhouse Kedron- a place to gather, to chat, to sit around the beautiful wooden tables and as a community enjoy delights of what a good dining experience should be! I’ll be coming back home to...
