Yesterday at lunchtime, I hauled my trusty colleague into Spice of India, and good heavens, it was as if we’d secured an exclusive lease on a Michelin-starred spice emporium. The place was ours alone, no queues, no chatter, just two discerning gentlemen and a table groaning under the weight of the finest Indian cuisine I’ve ever had the privilege to encounter. It was so serene, I could’ve heard a cumin seed hit the floor, but instead, we were ambushed by a symphony of flavours that left us chuckling like seasoned food critics who’d just stumbled upon gold.
The chicken tikka entrée arrived first, a masterpiece of succulence so divine it could’ve headlined its own cooking show, I’d have given it a standing ovation, but my associate might’ve raised an eyebrow, and he was too busy marvelling at its perfection.
Next, the mango chicken main swept in like a culinary dignitary, brimming with flavour and a spice level so impeccably balanced it deserved a standing ovation, think tropical elegance meets a polite kick to the palate.
The lamb biryani was equally magnificent: tender, fiery, and bold enough to linger in my memory like a spice-laden echo that refuses to fade.
The rice played its part, a steadfast companion that let the mains bask in their well-earned glory.
The garlic naan was a revelation, soft, aromatic, and so irresistible, it’s the sort of bread that makes you scoff at every stale slice you’ve ever tolerated.
The aloo naan, arrived puffed up with potato-packed splendour, tempting me to salute it with a fork.
With the restaurant as our private domain, the staff played the role of gracious hosts to perfection, attentive and warm.
Five stars, ten naans, and a hearty handshake of approval.
Spice of India transformed an ordinary Saturday into a lunchtime legend, my colleague and I are already planning...
Read moreWe visited Spice of India in Kedron last night for dinner and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the veg thali and my wife had the non-veg thali. The portions were generous, and we loved that we could choose our bread and pick two different gravies for each thali. The meals also came with rice, salad, and a gulab jamun for dessert, which was a nice touch.
We’ve really been missing good Indian food since our favorite spot closed down. After a few disappointing tries elsewhere, we honestly went in with zero expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, the space was clean and spacious, and the staff were courteous and even came over for feedback. While the dine-in area was fairly empty, the takeaway orders were buzzing, which shows how popular they are.
Overall, a really enjoyable dining experience and we’ll...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible costumer service from the beginning, We walked in and received no greeting, staff looked at us and instantly turned away. One staff in the front was just messing around on youtube. They took our order and we paid, all was fine, we then sat down at one of their tables. The staff came over to us after roughly five minutes and asked if we were eating in, we replied yes and they demanded that we would have to pay extra to dine in.
By this point we just wanted our food and to get out so we settled with takeaway. We ordered butter chicken and chicken madras, the butter chicken was horrible and lacked flavor, tasting bland as well as being spicy when my partner specifically ordered very mild. Chicken madras was okay but the rice was awful, dry and salty.
Overall, not a good experience. Can't say that i'll...
