Our recent visit to Istanbul 1923 was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a fantastic dining experience.
We opted for the shared platter for two, and it was an absolute delight. The platter was a generous assortment of authentic Turkish dishes, each bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Every bite was a journey through the rich culinary heritage of Turkey, with succulent meats, fresh vegetables, and perfectly seasoned sides that left us wanting more.
To top off our meal, we indulged in Turkish coffee paired with an array of traditional sweets for dessert. The coffee was robust and aromatic, the perfect complement to the delicate, melt-in-your-mouth sweets that were as visually appealing as they were delicious.
What truly elevated our experience at Istanbul 1923 was the impeccable service. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure we had a wonderful time. Their genuine hospitality added a personal touch that made our visit memorable.
Istanbul 1923 is a gem of a restaurant that I wholeheartedly recommend. Whether you’re a fan of Turkish cuisine or new to it, you’ll find yourself enchanted by both the food and the fantastic service. We left with full hearts and happy stomachs, already planning...
Read moreThis was my first time and google reviews convinced me but they were lies or I just had bad luck.
I arrived 3 mins early to my booking and was waited for 5 minutes to be seated. Surprisingly it wasn’t so busy at 7pm on a Saturday night but I had to wait for 5 minutes. After I was seated, I wasn’t given any menus or complimentary water for 10 minutes. Waiters kept interrupting every 2-5 minutes asking twice if I was waiting for anybody. (I made a booking for two people..so yes I was waiting for someone) after waiting for my plus one, waiters gave me the wrong wine selections and charged me for the wine tasting and we also was given the wrong meal orders but we were so hungry we ate the wrong orders and they didn’t taste anything like Turkish food - very plain and modern food and after them stuffing up our orders they convinced we take the correct order in takeaway bags when we both refused because we had no place to put it after we went out for drinks. Very disappointed in their hospitality and service! I highly don’t recommended them! However I highly recommend the best authentic Turkish food place in Brisbane is Mado, service is usually a delay after being always busy but the food there is...
Read morePreviously when Istanbul 1923 was on Brunswick Street it felt authenticly Turkish, the atmosphere inside was good & the lighting was just right & the food was very good. Now, having visited the new restaurant on Gympie Rd last week I was left very disappointed. The restaurant just doesn't feel authentic, doesn't feel Turkish. The lighting is far too bright, the decor is sparse & the music is very low, oh & the aircon is far too cold. 🥶 The most inportant thing though is the food & the king of kebabs is Iskender Kebab. Sadly it was not as good as it was previously, the portion was smaller, the tomato sauce was not thick & rich with flavour, it lacked depth, it was thin & watery it also had no burned butter drizzle over the meat & yoghurt. The other dishes were quite good though. The meal was finished with a Turkish Coffee & this was also very disappointing, it certainly wasn't real Turkish Coffee cooked on the stove top, it was bought packet Turkish Coffee. All in all not a great experience & the restaurant needs some work to make it feel much more Turkish. Fingers crossed it gets...
