Kit Gloves Coffee — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I really wanted to like this café—especially since it's pet-friendly, which is always a big plus. But unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.

The place is pretty small, so you'd think the staff would be more attentive. Instead, they seemed more focused on chatting with the people already seated than helping those waiting. I ended up standing around for over 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me, and when they finally took my order, they got it wrong and had to redo it. It just felt like no one was really paying attention.

What really threw me, though, was seeing a customer grab someone else’s coffee, hide it, and start drinking it—acting like they had no idea what happened. The staff either didn’t notice or just didn’t want to get involved, which was a bit worrying.

A quick stop at Kit Gloves and grabbed two coffees as well as doughnuts and one sourdough.

Unfortunately, the coffees were not for us. We just did not like them. They were sitting more on the bitter side. The nice lady who served us did offer sugar but we never have sugar in our coffee. Maybe it would have been better with sugar in it. If I were to rate it, I would give it a 2.5 out of 5 for the coffee beans they used for our coffees.

As for the sourdough, we have no idea if they were baked at the cafe or somewhere else, but it is damn fine. I got a multi-grain one and just had a couple slices. It was divine. As we haven’t tried the doughnuts yet, we cannot make a comment.

Service wise, the lady who served us was quite friendly and bubbly. We felt really welcomed.

An eclectic mix of (sub)urban coffee enthusiasts gather here for intelligent conversation and GREAT coffee.. i guess the professionally made sandwhichs are OK too but dont let the owners chef husband overhear you say that because his ego doesnt need inflation~
