If you love a good Japanese curry as I do, you simply won't find better in Australia than Hanaichi's curry. The "Kays Chicken" is also excellent (I often have trouble deciding between the Kays or Curry), & the Pork Katsudon, while not as good as my wife's, is quite good. The Karage chicken side ain't terrible, but there is much better elsewhere. I'm not an Udon fan, but my Wife is, & she loves Hanaichi's Udon.
Update Oct 2021:
Today I finally tried Hanaichi's Ramen, a recent addition to their menu.
I consider myself a bit of a Ramen connoisseur, & have reviewed most of the popular Ramen joints around Brissy. As Hanaichi are not a specialist Ramen joint, I have not been in a hurry to try their Ramen, knowing it would not compete against the likes of Genkotsu, Danbo, Champion, etc. However, I had a Ramen craving today & Genkotsu are unfortunately closed Mondays, so I figured what better time to try Hanaichi's Ramen.
Sadly, even with my expectations set so low Hanaichi's Ramen still managed to disappoint. The broth was watery & bland, the most flavourless I've yet encountered & definitely not a traditional Tonkatsu. The noodles were colourless & limp (verging on mushy, way over cooked).
The Chashu was reasonably tender, sliced the perfect thickness, & the only redeeming feature (more on this later).
The egg had the marinated colour of traditional "Ajitsuke Tamago", but without the marinated flavour, & the yolk was slightly under cooked (though only just).
While the Ramen is cheap, the extras/toppings were all over priced (Kaedama was $2.50!), & they do not offer corn as a topping.
If not for the Chashu, I would rank Hanaichi's Ramen right beside Taro Ramen Ascot, as worst Ramen in Brisbane. Taro hold their crown as the worst,...
Read moreWorst ramen I had in the whole Brisbane (so far), it was tonkotsu but it was too thin and amazingly flavourless(felt like it needed salt, but I have never ever had to add salt to ramen....ever) I cannot judge anything else like the Noodles or the pork as is the broth what unifies everything.
I can forgive soft noodles or not perfectly cooked eggs, but if you fail at the broth, all falls apart. I see there are good comments on other items, but have not seen any other on their pork ramen. Really disappointed as I had 2 more places from where I could have ramen, which are not really my favourites(motto Motto and Hakataya), decided to try this and probably will never try again.
EDIT: As requested here is my time of purchase
10/10/20 2:28pm $10.80, happy to go there at some point and get a good ramen as it is something I really like and would like to taste the best you can offer...
Read moreStopped in to grab a bite to eat. The gent behind the counter was super fast in taking the order, however my complete order (and someone else's - 2 dishes) were sitting on the pick up counter behind him for a good 3+ minutes before he passed them over as he was counting the money in the register... what can I say, I was hungry!? I ordered a large Kay's chicken, regular teriyaki chicken and a regular beef yakiniku, each on rice, plus a bottle of tea. Kay's and the yakiniku was on point for the serving size and balance of topping to rice, although the yakiniku was a bit dry. The teriyaki chicken had four (4) slices of chicken (I wish I was kidding) and a smattering of salad. Super lack-lustre and had I only ordered that, I would...
