A Culinary Journey to Nepal Right Here in Brisbane – A Must-Visit!
Dining at Jhigu Bhoye Chhen was a truly unforgettable experience that delighted all our senses. As lovers of authentic Newari cuisine, we were blown away not only by the incredible flavours but also by the warmth and hospitality that made us feel like cherished guests rather than just customers.
The taste of the food was absolutely exceptional—every bite felt like a celebration of tradition and culture. We ordered Samay Baji, momos, choila, yomari, and chyang, and each dish was a masterpiece in its own right. The Samay Baji was a perfect blend of textures and flavours—spicy, tangy, and deliciously earthy. The momos were soft, juicy, and filled with authentic spices that reminded us of home-cooked comfort. The choila was packed with bold, smoky flavour and perfectly spiced. Yomari—the steamed sweet dumpling—was a nostalgic treat and beautifully done, just the way it’s supposed to be. And the chyang (traditional rice beer) complemented the meal perfectly, adding a refreshing and cultural touch to the evening.
One of the most impressive aspects of our visit was the speed and efficiency of service. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived at the table very quickly, and everything was fresh and hot. The customer service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuine. The staff (hats off bhai) took time to explain the dishes, accommodate our needs, and ensure we had a comfortable dining experience throughout.
The interior decor is warm and welcoming, with touches of Nepali heritage that give the place character and charm. It’s clear that this restaurant is run by passionate people who truly care about both the food they serve and the experience they offer.
If you’re looking for authentic Newari cuisine in Brisbane, Jhigu Bhoye Chhen is the place to go. Whether you’re Nepali and missing the flavours of home or a food lover eager to explore new tastes, this restaurant offers something special that you won’t find elsewhere.
We’ll definitely be returning—and bringing friends along next time. Highly, highly...
Read moreFirst thing i am going to say is it’s very hard to do a perfect Nepali dish. I am a foodie and i traveled quite a distance to try jhigu bhoye chen”.
I could have given absolutely 2 stars but the dumplings saved it. I have seen lot of reviews without any absolute description. Everyone has different tastes and palates but when it’s come to your own food you pretty much can taste it.
Beautiful ambiance with one of the cleanest venue. Service was prompt. Very excited to get a first bite as review was 4.9 🌟. ( i always keep average hopes no matter how good the reviews are as food tastes different if it is prepared slight Differently).
It might be our bad luck but the jhigu bhoye chenn khaja set was disappointing and everything besides Barra was an absolute disaster with so much of quantity.
I can write point to point what was actually missing but i don’t want to be a smart guy. All i can say is please don’t mention enough for 3 people on your sets (lot might complain as i have seen 1 already) and just focus on quality. You have a really good menu but the food lacks a lot of attention. I have some pictures attached figure it out what was wrong starting with the amount of carrots. It’s very hard to run a restaurant but you need real people and reviews for long terms.
I will come and try again with my friends and do a review again. Unfortunately it was a total disappointment for...

We had an unforgettable meal at this fantastic Nepali restaurant. We started with the chicken choila, which was absolutely amazing! The chicken was perfectly grilled, with a smoky char and the ideal balance of spicy, tangy, and fresh herbs. It was a perfect way to kick off the meal.
Next, we moved on to the chowmein, and it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly cooked, crispy in some parts and tender in others, with just the right amount of seasoning. It was packed with vegetables and flavorful chicken, making each bite a delight.(exactly like bhati wala )
Finally, we ended with the jhol momo. These dumplings were tender and flavorful, served in a savory, slightly spicy broth that was rich and satisfying. The momo filling was juicy, and the broth added a comforting touch to the dish.
The food was authentic, delicious, and clearly made with love. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy, making it a perfect place for a memorable meal. I can’t recommend this place enough if you’re craving authentic Nepali flavors. I’ll definitely be...
