Some of the trash low lives that this venue allows into their stylish establishment is appalling. We attended our friends beautiful engagement celebration last Saturday 7th of October. Although our friends paid good money to hire a section of the venue, after 10pm they allowed the general public to flood the space we were occupying. The place got crowded fast. I went to the ladies bathroom and lined up. As it was my turn, my husband came in to let me know that our engaged friends were leaving the venue so I quickly went into the bathroom. When I came out, I saw a few women in the line start physically pushing and shoving my husband out of the common basin area and yelling at him to 'get out, you shouldn't be here' I could hear my husband reply 'I'm just waiting for my wife' which he was as we were planning to leave to say good bye to our friends. A beautiful night which turned into these ugly women then telling there crazy male friends to beat up my husband. As we were making our way to the elevators, at least 3 large males came from the side and behind of my husband and started physically assualting him. Everything happened quickly, I got pulled away from the crowd and all I could see was my husband getting beaten to the floor. I was so scared and angry that this was happening. The security team at Maya dragged my husband straight downstairs. My husband was bleeding in the mouth with several split wounds to his lip and inside of his mouth, lumps and bruises to several places to his head. The security asked us to move off the property even though we had done nothing wrong. The duty of care of this venue is non existent and although a complaint was made by the paying engaged couple, there has been no communication made about the incident. All these would have been caught on their cameras so the evidence is there. Think twice about visiting this venue unless you are looking for a fight. Those women who attacked my husband should be ashamed. There was clearly a male behind me waiting in line for the bathroom which didn't phase me at all. Because he wore a dress apparently it's fine, because my husband was wearing pants he's not allowed to wait for his wife in the common basin area??? Makes no sense, these women were just looking for trouble and unfornately my husband was the target of these mindless idiots. The venue is responsible for who they let in and should be at least sorry this innocent occured but they have showed zero care. I do not recommend visiting here and will tell anyone...
Read more⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Maya Mexican in Fortitude Valley is the ultimate destination for Saturday night vibes and fun! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a lively atmosphere that instantly set the mood for a fantastic evening. The vibrant decor, featuring colorful murals and festive lighting, creates a welcoming and energetic ambiance.
The food was absolutely delicious! The menu offers a great variety of authentic Mexican dishes with a modern twist. We started with the guacamole and chips, which were fresh and perfectly seasoned. The tacos were a highlight – we especially loved the carnitas and the shrimp tacos, both bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked.
What really sets Maya Mexican apart is the drinks and the overall vibe. The margaritas are a must-try – they have an extensive selection, from classic to innovative flavors, and they did not disappoint. The tequila and mezcal options are impressive, and the bartenders are skilled at crafting the perfect cocktail.
The live music and DJ added to the excitement, making it impossible not to get up and dance. The energy in the room was contagious, with everyone enjoying themselves and having a great time. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure we had everything we needed.

Read moreA little bit of a mixed experience. The greeter was wonderful and attentive and made us feel very looked after. The cocktails were interesting, beautiful and delicious. Our server was attentive at first, but towards the end of the night was not great - no offer for additional drinks and didn't come back to offer dessert. We had to ask for our bill (after waiting a long time after finishing our meals hoping someone would come by to take our plates away), and then again after a lengthy wait ask about how to pay it. Meanwhile, it was a lot less busy and there were about 5 bar staff standing around with not much to do, but the server seemed to be struggling to keep up with everyone that needed help and people near us seemed to be looking around for someone to help them too.
Most of our food came out at a good pace, but our mains (which were just 4 tacos) took a very long time, and the server must have written down the incorrect ones (we ordered Fish and Pork, but received Beef and Pork), but by then we didn't want to wait further and were happy to try the beef anyway.
The view was great, very well thought out design and aesthetics. The DJ was a bit OTT... I personally felt the food was a little overpriced for what it was, but on the other hand, the cocktails were on point. Staff were all friendly. I would give MAYA another go to see if next time the experience is a little...
