I may be a harsh critic as I have been attending the world's best horror events since 2009, including HHN and Knott's. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience I've ever had.
The night started with two staff members at the entrance trying to sell us the experience before they knew we had already bought tickets online, indicating that this event might not be very popular.
Upon entering the bar, it was nice and clean, but not very horror-themed - just a cadaver on a hospital chair and a few horror actors whose scares were based on loud bangs. This wasn’t an issue for me, but it should have indicated what to expect inside the maze. The playlist was decent, though.
The maze was unfortunately very bare, with barely any props or imagination. There was zero music or atmosphere, and no distinct smells. I encountered only three actors in the whole maze, none of whom were scary, either in terms of jump scares or makeup. There were so many curtains, but no one jumping out from them.
I believe they are casting for more actors, but with such a lack of actors, they really shouldn’t be charging full price. I would have been accepting at a price point of $10, not $40.
I see from their previous negative reviews that they do not take constructive criticism well, but please take this one from someone who lives for these events:
Check out 'Behind the Screams' tours at HHN for some mirror jump tricks, props, environments, and atmosphere. Also, aim for the interpersonal interactions you’d find at Knott's.
If you're easily scared, find snakes on a plane scary, and are not used to these events, maybe you’ll enjoy this. There is so much potential for this place, but they've been open for at least two years now from what I can tell.
I wish you guys all the best.
P.S. I do attend budget events too, as I understand the budget constraints for businesses, but I also find Mortem Manor to be a...
Read moreI came here under the recommendation of a family member. We were greeted by the very welcoming door staff (drip level 100) who explained how it all worked. The bar/waiting area is appropriately themed alongside accompanying music to suit.
All the actors did a very good job in the maze using the environment and tactics to scare the patrons. They also provide options for people who can't handle the scare-factor throughout.
The maze takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to compete. It was well worth the time for the experience. I really appreciate the time and effort the actors put into their work at this venue.
I recommend having a few drinks beforehand to dull your senses and enhance the overall scare.
Thanks for...

Sat up front in the splatter zone, was a bloody hilarious mess 😜🩸We came back later in the evening to experience the horror maze and enjoy some drinks in the bar area, with an electric, rock on atmosphere 🤘🤘shared with some interesting characters, even Mick made an appearance. The staff were awesome, from the horror make-up and hellish noises they make. Do yourself a favour horror fans, go give them a visit, and have a Beetlejuice at the bar. 🍺🥃 Hot food snacks available if you can eat while a nurse with one eye...
