The 'signature' beef noodle soup was fantastic...best I've had since living in Taiwan. I knew when I saw the tables that it was going to be authentic - each table adorned with boxes of chopsticks and spoons, a bottle of Chinese vinegar, a tub of chili oil, and a box of tissues (if you like it spicy...then you know what they're there for). It brought me back to my days living in Jung-Li Taiwan - home of some of the best spicy beef noodle soup in the world. The noodles were handmade and of excellent quality. The soup broth was light yet complex, and with lots of fresh coriander and garlic chives. The meat was tender and spiced very authentically...nearly as tender as the noodles. We also tried the beef fried rice, which was also some of the best I've had. You could tell it came from a well-seasoned wok (had that excellent smoky/toasty flavor). Fried rice is usually pretty mediocre and ends up being the thing taken home for leftovers, but this stuff was so good we had to finish it all on the spot...which was slightly challenging because the portions were also quite generous. None of us left hungry, to be sure. The decor is pretty casual - nothing fancy but the dining area was tidy and relaxed. A very friendly family running the place. We all felt welcome there, and will most definitely be back. I can't wait to try some of the other offerings on the menu because everything we tried was really, REALLY good! Highly recommended if you like really great (and authentic) Chinese. So glad we...

Helped a friend out with some things around the house and got treated to Mr Noodle 金城 for dinner since we were already that side of town. I don’t think they’re on IG, and missed checking out the previous branch in Upper Mt Gravatt while that was around. Happy for the chance to try this one and went with our friend’s recommendations:

signature special beef noodle soup 兰州牛肉面, $12 pork mince & tomato scrambled egg with noodle 双酱拌面, $13

Despite it being not busy when we were there, I was still surprised by how quickly the food came out - not much more than about 5 minutes. The Lanzhou beef noodles can be had with the choice of 6 levels of noodle thickness and from memory wifey had the 2nd or 3rd thinnest. I found the soup in the noodle soup more to my liking than the other Lanzhou beef noodle place I’ve tried, and thought the $1 premium to pay for the tomato scrambled egg made my choice of dry noodle an easy pick ahead of the more basic pork mince noodle. In both our dishes the noodles had a lovely bite/texture to them and the portion sizes are quite good for the price.

We also tried out some of their beverage selection - wifey had a prune juice (taste reminded us of lohan drink), and I had the Wang Lao Ji (taste was reminded us of grass jelly drink). There are some new menu items on a handwritten sign attached to the cash register, and a selection of side dish items in a display cabinet next to that. Overall pretty happy with our meal here and would be...

after seeing so many people line up outside Mr Noodle at Indooroopilly, i had to go see what the hype was about!~ a small little shop with outside seating, inside has no air con which is fine since the nights are coolish but outside seating for those who can’t bear a bit of stuffing seating~ ordered the special beef noodle soup with second thinnest size of noodles, wok tossed beef noodles and a prawn fried rice (forgot to take a photo of the rice) noodle soup was absolutely delicious!! out of the three it was the best for sure people have said that the flavour is too bland but personally i think it was on point and possibly even a bit too salty really depends on your own taste buds~ noodles are handmade and so yummy and chewy!! wok tossed beef noodles was the interesting dish, there was no mention that there would be Mala powder within it, a Sichuan numbing spice, came to us as a surprise as we ate and our tongues quickly got numb from the powder, if you don’t like numbing spice definitely tell them to not add it!!! fried rice was pretty good!! 6 prawns within the prawn fried rice, a reasonable amount~! overall quite a nice restaurant! super busy these days as everyone is...

Finally, I had the chance to visit this noodle restaurant that serves authentic Northwestern Chinese-style noodles. This cuisine originated in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province, which I had the pleasure of visiting a few years ago. I have to say that these noodles are probably the best I've tasted outside of China. They are incredibly chewy and slippery, just like they should be. However, I can only rate this restaurant 3 stars because I think their broth is not up to par. It seems too plain, and my friend, who is a Lanzhou resident, said it was too salty. The meat they served was also not as flavorful as we had hoped. Maybe we are too picky, but it would be great if they served some free pickled dishes, which they didn't. The restaurant's decoration is great, but the ventilation inside the restaurant is not good enough. It feels stuffy and oppressive, so they should probably open a window or turn on the air conditioning.
