A quick coffee run at Putia Pure Food Kitchen and we were really pleased with the experience, despite it being a takeaway.
We grabbed a large skinny cap and soy flat white along with a biscuit as show in the pic below (I didn’t ask what they were called). On first sip, the coffee hit me with this spicy sensation. It almost tasted like it got different spices in it. It wasn’t a bad taste and to be honest, I quite enjoyed it. The taste lingered throughout and really grew on me. The soy flat was infused with that lovely soy flavor, which I quite dug. As for the biscuit, I must say it was absolutely gorgeous, from the texture to the taste. We assumed it was an Anzac biscuit but couldn’t have been more wrong. It might look like an Anzac biscuit but tasted far better. We expected it to be chewy but got crunchiness instead, which I thought was brilliant. On the first bite, I got this mixed taste of chocolate and caramel, which was a pleasant surprise; the bitterness and sweetness were really well balanced. It was one of the best biscuits I have had.
Service wise, we were really pleased. The lady who served us was lovely and friendly (she seemed to be the owner but correct me if I’m wrong). On arrival she greeted us with a smile and struck up a conversation with us, which we thought was really nice of her. Even though it was a short stay, we still felt welcomed and can only imagine how nice it would be to dine there, which we...
Read moreWithin a hour and a half of eating here I was violently vomiting and diarrhoea for the rest of the day, the only other thing I had eaten that day was a bowl of the same cereal I have every other day.
I told the waitress when we ordered that I have Coeliac. I took all of the recommended precautions asking questions to gauge a restaurants understanding of food safety in regards to dealing with food intolerances.
The waitress assured me that the chefs would be able to provide a safe meal for me prepared in a way to avoid cross contamination, she assured me they would prepare my meal in a separate cleaned down area away from other gluten containing foods, she explained that this would mean that our meals would take extra time. I told her that was fine and I was happy for the chefs to take as much time as they needed.
We waited for almost 2 hours for our meals, the wait just increased my confidence that my meal was being prepared in a safe manner.
When my meal arrived, the same waitress that took our order presented it to me announcing that it was gluten free. Despite the wait, and given my extreme reaction, my meal either had a huge amount of gluten in it, or it was food poisoning.
Accidents happen I know this, but accidents in food safety like this can and have cost people their lives.
I am still suffering symptoms over a month after eating this meal. My inflammatory markers and auto-immune symptoms have been out of...
Read moreGreat place with an original menu. My partner and I love it because every time we find something new.
I did not plan to write a review, so I did not take photos. However, this experience was made really special by the service. My partner had an emergency call that she had to take just before the food was delivered. Once the staff realized it, he took the initiative to take the food back to the kitchen to keep it warm, then "refreshed it" and brought it back once my partner was back. This was not requested and made for a great experience: Not only our food was great, but the staff's initiative saved us from an underwhelming experience due to our bad timing.
As for the food, we had: The little BNE roll, vegetarian option. Excellent. Great taste balance, beautiful presentation. Transcend-Lentil. Beautifully presented red beetroot bun with a tasty patty and crunchy chips. We were genuinely surprised, as it was really tasty and satisfying. Turmeric Latte. Nice and foamy, I really enjoyed it. Spiced Chai Latte. My partner loved it.
We are not locals, but we'll definitely be back when in the area. Definitely...
