Our group of 6 decided to celebrate my birthday at Red Galanga this week. We had been here before and in the past had enjoyed the food and the service had been good. Unfortunately, we found things have gone downhill since last we were there. We ordered four starters to share amongst us - they all came out at different times instead of together or even within a few minutes, which meant the eating was very disjointed. The same thing happened with our mains. After waiting some time for the mains to arrive, they finally brought out two of the meals, whereupon I was told that the meal I had ordered was "no longer" gluten free. This was about 40 minutes after handing in our order on the sheet of paper (not sure why they need us to complete these post-covid now). I was very clear about the gluten free yellow curry. I had to hurriedly choose another meal, the beef massaman, which arrived about 15 minutes later. This was watery and lacking flavour and I found it to be very ordinary - probably like something you'd get from Woolies or Aldi. All of us at the table were either finished eating or almost finished before they brought the last meal to our table. So my daughter had to eat her meal solo - which kind of killed the vibe and made things awkward. I may be old school, but in my mind, if you are going out in a group, the restaurant should be serving the meals to the table all together, or at the least, very close together. Not to the point where the last couple of people are getting their meals when others in their party have already finished. To make matters worse, the tango prawn meal my daughter ordered was a batter coated prawn dish, and she spent the meal removing unexpected shell out of her mouth with each bite. Surely a coated crispy prawn dish should be using peeled prawns?
Overall, a very disappointing evening at what once was a much better restaurant. Would no longer recommend this to friends and...

ย ย ย Read moreBeen twice in the last 12 months when visiting Brissie and have come away both times looking forward to our next visit. The food is good with plenty of flavour. The rice dishes are tasty as well. The salt and pepper squid and the accompanying aioli is superb. The Tom nam soup is a little sweet and needs a squeeze of the lime to balance it but is packed with moist chicken . The whole barramundi and green apple salad is notable with the salad dressing being a highlight of the dish. The molasses sauce accompanying the BBQ duck is amazing but the duck was a little dry. The crispy pork belly bites are just that and tasty. It's on the more expensive side for Thai food but I believe you get what you pay for. The staff are very busy but helpful, friendly and efficient. Even our 20mth yo grandson enjoyed the food and consumed his fair share...
