Owner is clearly argumentative based on his replies to reviews, seems unable to accept responsibility or consider that perhaps there are things he wouldn't know as he didnt experience them. As we are unable to reply to owner replies I am posting a seperate review.
Mid bite we were asked if we were done with a plate for the 4th time. Another time my wife was asked if she was finished with her bircher bowl despite it being half full, I can only assume because she was having some toast at the time. Clearing one plate at a time really interrupts a meal and leaves one person staring at an empty table while their partner is still eating. This strikes me as a result of poor staffing choices by management as clearly the staff were bored and looking for something to do.
This doesn't require mind reading as the owner patronisingly suggests my wife expected, but rather an ability to read the situation. This skill is taught by good training. So if this is the quality of training you are providing to set these young people up for future sucess, I would hold off on your own back patting and listen when your customers have feedback.
And, while I'm on the subject of feedback, we did ask to be left alone, as you suggested we should have done, only for a different waitress to come and ask us if we were done not 1 minute latter. So clearly asking doesnt work, perhaps if your world class training also included communication amongst staff training or if you thought about maybe having designated tables for each staff member, asking them to leave us alone would have worked.
We would have left it at a 3 star, middling review with a bit of an FYI about how often we were interrupted, but the owners condescending and insulting reply about "we cant read minds" has ensured that we will not be returning despite it being the single closest cafe with decent seating.
If anyone else has read this far, I suggest that you try smoking joes instead, you cant sit down really but the coffee is better, they offer a discount for keep cups and are not a big chain...

When we arrived, there were only a few tables available and all of them had left over plates/cups on them. We sat down at one table and a waitress came over to clear the table for us. Unfortunately when she was collecting the cups, she knocked one over that still had milk in it. This wasn't a problem, accidents happen, and she was apologetic. Quite a lot of milk had spilled over the table, on the chairs and the floor. She took away the cups and plates and we waited for her to come back to clean up the mess, but she never did! After waiting quite some time, I went to check with her asking if she could clean it up. She said she would come by. She did eventually come back to the table to clean up the mess, but her attitude and effort to clean up the mess was appalling. She wiped the table with a cloth and left. Leaving the table still mostly covered in milk and she didn't even bother with the chairs. The table was very damp and now just smelt like milk. We had to go ask for napkins and some water to re-clean the table ourselves. A very disappointing experience with terrible customer service.    Read moreThis review is more for one of the amazing staff. The place was great too. It occurred to me she wouldnât want her name on social media so Iâve omitted it but Iâve added a lovely photo of this A++ service staff member.
On the 25 Nov I was headed out to pick up a dining room suite. It was raining heavily and was realised I hadnât picked up my bag with my external charger.
About 15 minutes from the place my phone died and I was in an area I didnât know. I had my plug in charger and stopped at StellaRossa for a cuppa and to charge my phone. Understand that I didnât even know how to get home without maps. So charging was the only option.
The phone wouldnât charge at any of the ports. I took a deep breathe, ordered food and moved tables to get the phone charging. This staff member went above and beyond once I told her my story.
She suggested we try one of their chargers, and the phone started charging. So my charger was faulty as well. She helped me relax, ordered another cuppa and let me know when it was charged enough to get me on my way.
She checked in with me all the time. I know this isnât a typical âgreatâ food story but staff make a place memorable when they give exceptional service - especially in a time of need.
Ps: the food was also great and the coffee and tea.
