This place is decorated really nicely but don’t let that fool you. The waiter (who we later found out is a supervisor) named Scott was rude and offered inadequate customer service. When we ordered items off the menu that we were not aware were unavailable, he would say “NO” with a terrible attitude rather than explaining why we could not have them. We tried to order a tea and he replied “coffee machines broken” which we questioned as we were ordering tea. Scott then rolled his eyes, sighed and said “Coffee machines the only way to get hot water”. We then ordered alternate options which he brought out. We ordered two gin and tonics which after one sip we discovered they were actually gin and sodas. When we raised this with Scott he took them back to the kitchen and then came back and rudely said “that’s because we have run out of tonic” and hence they just hoped we could not tell the difference. Scott then didn’t offer what alternate solutions were available as mixers so we then genuinely asked Scott what was available. Scott replied “it’s unfair for you to make that comment as the airport is a hard area to get stock to” which we did not know and his demeanour when explaining this was disgusting. As we were leaving Scott said “I took the gins off”…yeah you’d hope so after it was not what we had ordered. Disappointing experience as we have eaten here before and had no issues. If you were like us debating which cafe to dine in at before your morning flight, you will not be disappointed with the Aviary Cafe Bar! Gorgeous views of the landing strips outside, friendly staff and a simple but quality menu.

Even before seated, we were greeted and welcomed by staff and invited to take a seat. We ordered the Avo on Toast and Eggs Benedict with two coffees. At first, when my toast came out I thought the portion size was so small, and not what I expected for the price. However, this was hands down the best avo on toast I have ever had. The Turkish bread was so fresh and crisp, and seasoning on the avocado was really unique. Underneath the bread was like a whipped feta, which just topped off the whole meal. I thought, I could order a second serving right now. My only critique would be to have larger Turkish bread slices as they were quite small compared to the amount of avo. The eggs Benedict was also pretty delicious, the croissant base really made it unique to what the other cafes were serving.

On top of the food, the coffees were also smooth tasting and quick to be brought out. There was a slight misunderstanding with our order however the waitress quickly rectified it with a smile.
