It was Easter Monday and my partner and I decided to head bayside for some fish and chips for lunch. After finding every fish and chip shop packed the rafters, we decided to head to the Full Moon on the off chance we could get a table and a meal of fish and chips. On arrival, the place was packed! We approached the staff on the off chance on getting a seat and the lady was extremely friendly, helpful and directed us to the public bar as the restaurant itself was full. She explained the menu and said if we didn’t want to sit in the public bar, pop back out and she will help us find a seat. Amazing service! The public bar was amazing, we got a comfy ocean view little nook. The bar staff were friendly, the beers were cold! Bliss. We ordered off the QR code, calamari entree and fish and chips for the main. Within 15 mins the calamari arrived and it was so fresh, hot and tasty! Absolutely fab! Not even 30 mins later, out comes the mains and omg, the fish was cooked perfectly, chips were hot and salad was fresh. Given the business of the restaurant we were not expecting such amazing quality and well presented and delicious food. Overall the best experience we’ve had at a pub for a very long time. Do yourself a favour and head to the Full Moon Hotel next time you are over Sandgate way. You won’t be disappointed. I just wish I’d taken more good photos!

We had three really good dining experiences here but the fourth experience was not great. The breakfast we had the first day was absolutely beautiful. It was only two of us on every occasion so we were quite disappointed on our last trip when things went sideways. We went for breakfast again and order the same dishes we had the previous day. My food came out and looked delicious, my companion was delivered her sides and then nothing else. We were told her breakfast would be out shortly but she was left with cold poached eggs and when we asked if they could be replaced with new ones, it was realised that the rest of her meal wasn’t even being made. Unfortunately I had to eat my meal while she waited because mine had ice cream on top. By the time her meal finally came out I only had a few fork fulls left of mine. It just left us quite disappointed as every other time we’ve been here we had great food and service. It was such a shame as it was our last day in the area. That’s the only reason I’m giving a 4 star review. On the plus side the food is lovely, my dinner a few days previously was so yummy. We had the steak and the pork belly which were divine and the breakfast waffles were delicious, especially the apple, macadamia one. I also had the whipped feta dip which was very good.

Another night, another dinner out. After viewing a friend’s art show, we headed here for a quick dinner. This is a very large space, suitable for families and big groups, and indeed that’s what it was full of this night (and don’t forget the Trivia competitors). Hubby chose the mushroom burger with added halloumi, and I had the chargrilled barramundi. We both really enjoyed our meals. The barra was moist, tender and flavourful, and the veg. were fresh and tasty. I loved the little potato pieces (just wish there were a few more), and the pureed butter beans were a great addition. I’m not a fan of chorizo, but the crispy little morsels were a salty pop on the tongue. Hubby loved his burger, which came with basil aioli, and chips. I snuck a few and they were very good – crispy outside and tender inside. The mylk bun was good, not too sweet (which is a bugbear for both of us often). I drank prosecco, and he had his usual ginger beer. Service was swift and efficient, but sadly the wafting cigarette smoke (from the gaming room?) sent us scuttling out in a hurry. Also the Trivia stuff was very loud! So we made our escape into the cool (ish) evening. Overall, we agreed on the fab food, but perhaps not quite the right place for us oldies.

We had our Christmas Function booked in the Shornecliff room, which is a great location. The service staff were generally very lovely and the food and drinks average.

However, the functions' coordinator on the night was unreasonably inflexible with our bar tab. The guest in the room next door were able to order drinks from the bar in the Shornecliff room, which we had booked, yet we (3 people who had come early, the company director and organiser) weren't able to do that 10 minutes before the tab started. We had to go downstairs, which wasn't a problem but odd, as the bar in Shornecliff room was operational, staffed and stocked. Both our party and the party in the other room were left a bit perplexed when suddenly at 6PM they were no longer able to order drinks and we could. We were told that they were aware, but it was abrupt, unreasonable and left us all feeling awkward. We were also told that our tab in the room was exclusive, and we had to have a separate tab downstairs before the event started at 6PM. When we did order downstairs, the very lovely staff offered to put it on our tab, which was already open. Clearly, that wasn't as big an issue as the coordinator had made out to be. Our bar tab was meant to go until 11PM. By 10PM, most of our party had left, so the remaining seven people wanted to go downstairs to carry on. At this point, our minimum spend hadn't been reached, and we were not able to simply keep going downstairs. We had to close the tab in the Shornecliff room, pay over $900 to reach the minimum spend, and then head downstairs to start a new tab. There was no flexibility or reason to it other than to get a nice tip out of the minimum spend. We knew that the staff at the downstairs bar could just add to the tab, but apparently that wasn't an option. When we asked one of the bar staff behind the bar downstairs, they said that this was odd too. Overall, it's a great and busy venue, but this experience left a sour aftertaste, and we...

We've just been in to have a family meal to celebrate a birthday, came in with the intention of a few rounds of drinks with lunch, along with dessert. Atmosphere was surprisingly uncomfortable, we are a young family with a two year old. You have to walk half way through the restaurant to find someone to be greeted and seated. Staff weren't very welcoming, or even that kind honestly and overall service was subpar for the experience. Barely any interaction when our starters or meals were brought out, no one came to see how things were going the entire time we were there and unfortunately our 2 year old was throwing the occasional chip which my husband and I were picking up as he did it so as not to not upset staff or other patrons until we caught a server giving our son a filthy look for it and so we decided to leave it on the floor. HE’S TWO?! Most people wouldn’t be considerate to clean up after their kids in a public space and thats how you treat guests that are willing to? We were sat at a table between multiple groups of elderly people who were clearly bothered we were there with a young child who was squealing in delight while he was playing with me at the table and watching a movie on my phone while we waited for our food. Our food was average, any place with “greatest” in the name of an item is usually self proclaimed, and that should have put me off ordering the parmi in the first place but thats the item I was interested in and why I sought out this venue but unsurprisingly yours is the worst Ive had while out for a meal. We spent over a $100 but after the food was so average and the overall experience so below the bare minimum of a service experience we decided to skip trying dessert and take the leftovers home for the dog so as not to further waste our money. I don't know how this place is rated so highly because my husband and I are very regretful giving this place a go and wish we had spent our money elsewhere. Incredibly...

First time here, food was good, the one staff member really let us down. Upon arrival, we entered as a group of 4 and waited to be seated. We were then greeted by a lovely staff member who took us to our table. We ordered food and 2 of my friends ordered a beer and a cocktail off of the QR code on our table. When the drinks arrived, this staff member was what really let the experience down. He handed my 2 friends their drinks and asked for IDs which is fair and a standard procedure, however had to ask one of my friends to leave due to the fact that a photo of her ID was not enough and that they reserve the right to ask her to leave due to 'house policy' while saying that me and my other 2 friends were allowed to stay even though she was not drinking. No valid reason was explained to us apart from 'House Policy'. He barely even looked at our IDs and just skimmed through them. He refused to listen to reason and then touched her arm saying that unfortunately she has to leave. When she asked if she could have her meal as take-away as its already been paid for, he agreed and went back to the counter to serve others. Of course when one person leaves, the rest will do the same. One of my friends went up to ask if we could do the same and have it as take away to which this same staff member said to him "No we do not do take away" which left us really confused since he just said my other friend could have her food as take away but we can't. We eventually got our food as takeaway and left. If you're gonna check IDs for a venue serving alcohol, usually you would check upon entry that everyone is 18 BEFORE entering if its just a group of friends and not children and their parents. Other venues I've been to such as surf clubs down the gold coast which are a similar business like this allowed photos of a valid ID to be let in and checked IDs for GROUPS of friends BEFORE we went in the venue and ordered food. Again, disappointed by this one...
