Vagus - Gelateria — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Had a wonderful meal at Vagus with my partner this evening. The food was fantastic and very affordable, even if the menu was a little confused and a few items were not available. This place has real potential but the ambience does need a little work IMO. The lighting is harsh and this makes a few of the tables a little uninviting - candles instead of down lights would make a huge difference to give the space warmth. A cocktail menu would be excellent too; even a small one. We had the dips, the Bao buns and prawn tacos to share and all the dishes were delicious and generously portioned. I really hope this great little cafe takes off and would encourage locals...

The whole experience was just incredibly awkward... they didn't have 3 dishes available to order, they didn't even greet us on entry. I asked if we just find a seat ourselves and we sat down, no offer of water or a menu happened at all in the 10 minutes we were sitting there. When I went to order, another customer asked about a missing ingredient in her food and then I watched the waitress use her bare hands to scoop it out of the container in the kitchen. I feel like some guidance is needed for younger staff as the poor thing was all by herself and there was 1 chef in the kitchen. We left before...

New on the scene and has great potential. Coffenwas good but not a fan of their mugs which were a bit awkward. Food was good with croquettes being fresh during flavoursome and the chicken and waffles being nice but with nothing else.on the plate became a bit much by the end , I would partner it with perhaps.a Waldorf slaw to give a chance to flavour and texture.
