Siri Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Tried Siri Thai restaurant for the first time today and I'm surprised I haven't come here sooner, the restaurant is in a quite but convenient location in Alderly, with about a 50/50 mix of indoor and outdoor seating, i chose outdoor and to enjoy nice decor and afternoon breeze, I almost felt like I was back in Thailand.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, seating us and taking our order in True Thai style.

We ordered curry puff as an entree and basil crispy pork and samurai red curry duck, the food taste as good as it looks, the pork maintained its crispy skin, vegetables were well cooked and the basil sauce was delicious.

Red duck curry was how I like it, flavourful crispy skin duck with a thick mild curry sauce and some contrasting sweetness from the lychees and pineapple.

To top it off two refreshing raspberry/ lemonade flavoured mocktails.

We have bene eating at this restaurant for years and they know us by name but service has gone down badly. The food is good, the price average but don't try and dine in. All they care about is numbers and take-a-away business so if you order behind a whole lot of take-a-ways you wait for ages. And all they do is say sorry. We waited over 20 mins for s desert we ordered and when it came it was the wrong one. They said our desert was not available and yet they took our order. The dessert we ordered should have been ready: ice-cream and black sticking rice. There was another couple who came in and who waited ages just to have their order taken. They were the ONLY others seated in the restaurant. As for social distancing that is totally ignored with people crowding in waiting for their take-a-away orders.

Wonderful restaurant. It's my favourite Thai restaurant in Brisbane. I have observed the fate of these premises for over 30 years. There used to be a good Mexican restaurant many years ago, run by a couple. After they had retired, several other restaurants tried to succeed in these premises with its rather unassuming position. They didn't. Since Siri Thai opened its doors it's booming. The prices are modest, the food has a rich, fresh and clean taste. My favourite dish is their green curry but any of their dishes taste delightfully rich, clean and fresh. It is a visual delight to see the friendly staff serve you in their traditional Thai costumes. Even on my travels to Thailand, I found only one restaurant that came close to this suburban Siri Thai restaurant...
