The best thing about this dining experience was the bottle of ‘ingram road Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2023’. My vegetable spring rolls were okay but the minuscule amount of watered down sweet chilli sauce was grossly inadequate. Partner’s satay chicken was over cooked and the sauce was bland. My Tom Yum soup with tofu/vegetables was disappointing. The tofu was literally paper thin to the point that I wasn’t even aware that tofu was in the soup. The broth lifted the soup but the vegetables were nothing special - so I didn’t even eat half of it. Partner’s tofu salad was inedible because again, the tofu was so paper thin cut that it really didn’t present as a tofu salad at all. I mentioned the abysmal tofu presentation to the server who said that the chef would be informed. Because I wasn’t about to waste the food (not in this day & age), I asked for take-away containers because I’m convinced I can salvage the food by incorporating it into a homemade dinner that I can make tomorrow night. Naturally (surprised/not surprised) I was charged for the 2 dirt cheap plastic take-away containers. Yim Thai, please lift your game and don’t be so stingy with the tofu … and please don’t overcook the chicken. If you want us back, you’ll need to address these concerns and get it fixed...
Read moreWe have been regular customers for the past 3 years, but we are becoming increasingly worried about the accuracy of our orders. In the last 3 orders, we have consistently received incorrect items. Two months ago, we ordered prawns fried rice but received pork fried rice instead. Last month, we ordered Thai chicken green curry with extra veggies, only to find that there was no chicken in the curry, just vegetables. And today, when we ordered the chicken green curry again, we were given duck green curry instead. I have a severe allergy to duck, and as a result, I started throwing up and developed a severe headache.
What concerns us even more is the lackadaisical attitude of the girl who attended to us. She was irresponsible in answering our questions and did not even offer an apology. To make matters worse, when we requested to speak to the manager or chef, we were informed that neither of them was present at the store. It is extremely worrisome that we don't know who is responsible for preparing the food.
Management, it is high time for you to address this recurring issue. Even when we complained to your staff, it seems like nothing is being done to prevent these mistakes from happening...
Read moreFirst time back at Yim Thai in three years. Big improvement. Greeted on arrival to order takeaway by front of house staff with a warm smile. Ordered spring rolls, coconut rice and Ped Yang (Sesame roasted duck with stir fry veg, ginger and pineapple). Less than fifteen minutes to come out. The staff member confirmed my order and showed what I had, good move. The food. Spring rolls had good flavor but were removed from the oil too soon, the outside was pale and they did not have enough cooking time to retain some heat and were barely warm when I got them home. The coconut rice was great, flavorsome and plentiful. The Ped Yang, same deal, tender and juicy duck, nice crispy skin and plenty of it. The entire top layer in the container was duck and they did not skimp on the veg and or ginger and pineapple sauce like some places. Top stuff. i would have done five stars all round if the spring rolls had been cooked longer. Definitely going back to crack into the rest of the menu. Yep, give this place a crack if you like Thai food,...
