I'm appalled that I've been going to Cruze for 12 years and only just realised I haven't left a review! To put it simply; Cruze has the absolute best variety of beans, the best barista, and the best service in Cairns. To put it not so simply; During my brief stint of living in the city, not a single cafe there came close to the quality of Cruze's brews (I'll be honest, it was part of my decision to move back to my home town). Gil and his team have been looking after me since I was 14 and they have been a consistent, comforting rock for all those years. Gil, especially, has seen me go through some of the worst and best stages of my life as I've grown up and he's been a sweetheart through it all. The cafe has truly become a homely place and the team always feels like family. Not a single burnt coffee has come from these guys, and not a bad batch of roasted beans. I'm sure there have been times when I've been a difficult customer and they have still been completely accommodating and dealt with my sometimes demanding needs! Gil has also only ever had the best team with him from Oceana Walk days to now, with Sharee and Harry being the long term crew that also feel like family now. You will also be carefully guided through their huge variety of beans to choose from, so don't stress about the many different brews you could have! Don't worry if you need a few visits to find your perfect bean - I promise you will find it in the end! On top of all of this, they have competitive prices for coffee, and the cheapest beans you can purchase to take home. Read moreI have never had a problem with Cruze coffee and beans, they have been really good and consistent, until I bought a 1 Kg 'The Godfather' coffee beans at Smithfield in Dec 2023 ! I have a Breville Coffee Machine and when I grinded the beans at home, my Breville machine ground to a halt. I inspected the machine and found a foreign metal object in my Grinder and thought wow the Breville really wore itself out after 2 years. I subsequentially bought another brand new Breville, and using the same beans had the same issue and realised it must be something in the beans - I sieved and inspected the beans and to my shock found the same small metal/stone objects (I have pics to share) the size of a coffee bean. I subsequentially sent a message to Cruze (Using contact us on Website) to contact me to discuss at least discretely, and I have received no reply - I have replaced my brand new Breville under warranty within 2 days and did not want to make a scene with Cruze given I want to support 'buying local' and give Cruze the benefit of the doubt as this maybe an anomaly, or a one in a million problem, or something that could become a big problem for them. I have always received great service from both until two wks ago when l went there and one of the ladies that was there was very rude and condescending, no thank you no please and the whole transaction was just rushed. One of the guys who claimed to be the manager saw l was upset l relayed what had gone on. Instead of him getting this lady to apologise he said “lapologise on her behalf” (she had ginger hair, sorry didn’t get her name as she wasn’t wearing a name tag). The lady snatched my VIP card and stamped on the wrong row when l was actually due for a free coffee. She proceeded to tell me there’s was nothing she could do about it as it was done already and couldn’t claim my free coffee. This practice isn’t right! Never will l be going to this site again.
