My 1-star is for how unprofessional and uncooperative both the manager and Chef was in sorting out my order (mind you this was for FRIES).
To summarized the chef word for word stated:
“It’s not her fault (the waitress), it’s not my fault (chef), it’s your fault” when I let them know that they got my order of fries wrong lol.
Here are the details:
My friend and I had came here for Taco Tuesday. And I was raving to her how much I enjoyed their sweet potatoes fries last time and that we should share one. And I even ordered an extra aioli sauce that comes with the dish too.
Order comes out and we ended up getting wedges instead. Politely let the waitress know right away that it was the wrong order. Mind you they had even forgotten the extra sauce and to add, the wedges came with sour cream versus aioli.
Waitress basically just checks the docket and states that since wedges was on the docket that she can’t do anything about it. So I let her know that it could be placed in wrong, but she kept denying it.
So, I requested for the manager and explained what happened. Manager asked whether we had eaten any of it and my friend and I said yes to only to find out that it wasn’t sweet potato fries! So maybe 3 fries was eaten. Literally there was a FULL bowl. He then states that since we had taken the food out of the counter and tried it that we were unable to 1. Swap it to the right order, and 2. Get a refund.
At this point, I’m like are you serious?? We are not trying to get free fries out of this. We just wanted to get the order we came here originally for and we had no interest eating these wedges. Plus, I ordered an extra aioli sauce, which only came with the sweet potato fries. The fact that we can’t even receive a refund was appalling too since we didn’t even want the wedges. I told him this was the cheapest thing on the menu and the easiest item to make, so I don’t understand why they are making it so difficult.
To make matters worse, they brought out the chef (LOL). He basically said he doesn’t want to stand here and argue with me for 20 mins (well me too hunny, you are killing my taco Tuesday vibes lol).
I reiterated what I said earlier and he grumpily later answered that he would only do this once and that he wanted to make it known that:
“It’s not her fault (the waitress), it’s not my fault (chef), it’s your fault.”
[Insert meme of my face just staring at this dude and thinking really dude, it’s F-R-I-E-S]
At this point, my friend is over the fries and states that if he would prefer to give a refund versus wasting more ingredients than that is fine.
So we got our refund of $9 LOL.
Like Jesus Christ, I have learned that ordering fries must be some type of art that I need to work on mastering here at Pier Bar, that it must be easy to be a waitress here if the mantra is the customers is always wrong, and that they must be on top of their wastage output if both the manager AND chef had to come to handle a fries situation lol.
Plot twist - we still got our share of sweet potato fries from these sweet customers who sat next to us and witness the whole sweet potato fiasco go down....
Read moreI have been a regular at Pier Bar for the past 4 years and am sad to say that I would no longer recommend it to anyone. I had become friends with the managers here and when we had a falling out over things completely unrelated to the business, I stayed my distance to not cause any troubles. 3 months later I returned with my boyfriend for a cider on a Tuesday night. When the one of the managers, Amy came and asked me to leave because she was not happy that I had not responded to her text message and that the other employee who I'd had a falling out with would be coming in later. So I did not argue, I didn't want to stir any trouble, and we left, even though we thought it was very unfair. 3 weeks later and the other employee has left the country and I have some friends celebrating a birthday there. As soon as I walk into the premises and greet my friends, a security guard asks me to leave for an unknown reason. I asked if I could speak with Amy because this was getting well and truly out of hand. I was told she was busy on her lunch break. So instead of causing a scene, I left, and so did my group of about 20 people from the party off to Salt House. Disgusted that one single employees personal gripe with me could have that much sway in this business. I have never been disrespectful or misbehaved while at Pier Bar and just can't believe how unprofessional the management have been about...
Read moreEarlier in the week my friend and I arrived at the Pier Bar at 6:55. We went up to the bar to order some happy hour drinks, after standing and waiting we were served. After telling the lady what drinks we wanted she looked down at the time and went ‘oh it’s 7 now so I can’t do happy hour’ … we stood there confused, after showing the time, she then rudely said to us “well there’s only one of me so I don’t know what you want me to do “. We just said replied politely saying ok and paid normal prices for our drinks despite still being during happy hour.
I then ordered a pizza, given the price of the pizza I was shocked that I had to go collect my pizza from the kitchen myself, only to be further shocked when I was given what looked like a store bought pizza. I then realised it had not come with the basil that it was promised to have, so I went back up to politely ask for some, the chef then rolled his eyes and sprinkled some old, dry oregano on the pizza.
We were not originally going to leave a review but in comparison to the other restaurants we have visited, the service we...
