Dundees on the Waterfront — Restaurant in Cairns City

We came to Dundees for a family dinner at a popular restaurant frequented by Cairns locals and tourists alike. The restaurant is located on the waterfront with a great atmosphere and stunning views.

The food was typical Aussie food, nothing special - average flavours and plating was below average. I ordered a $53, 300g sirlon steak and was surprised for the size... also, the plating was very skimpy for the price... I would have preferred the $20 special pub steak. One thing is good the meat was cooked exactly as I ordered medium, the flavour was the usual steak you'd find anywhere, and the seafood platter was just about what you'd expect from fried food... The Thai salad had fewer vegetables than expected but it was a tasty okay, the kids meal was also difficult for them to eat as the steak was very tough and no seasoned, it was served with a single small portion of tomato sauce, no bbq sauce or any other sauce.

Everything is okay, but The only things I don't understand is the $1 extra tomato or any other sauce....When I asked the waitress for more sauce, she looked puzzled and asked for an extra dollar.... I can understand if they give you enough sauce at the beginning and charge extra when you are required more.... But it was hard to understand why there was only one small portion of aioli and one piece of lemon on a seafood platter(taste of the sea) with a lot of fried food - fried fish, fries, calamari, fried prawn and scallop...

All the food was below average for the price, I think it's just a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and view. For the price, I don't think there's a restaurant I'd go to twice.

I recently visited Dundees with a group of friends, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! Although we had initially made reservations elsewhere, due to some unforeseen circumstances, our organizer managed to secure a table for all seven of us at Dundees. And we glad they did!

Apart from the seafood tower, the rest of the menu also impressed us. We explored various seafood dishes, and they were all prepared to perfection. The flavors were well-balanced, and the quality of ingredients was evident in every bite.

I must commend the staff at Dundees for their exceptional service. Despite accommodating our group at the last minute, they treated us with warmth and professionalism. Our server was knowledgeable, providing helpful recommendations and ensuring our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.

The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The decor was tastefully done, creating a pleasant environment for a relaxed evening with friends. We felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our visit.

Overall, our experience at Dundees was nothing short of fantastic. The seafood tower was the star of the show, but every aspect of our meal, from the food to the service, exceeded our expectations. If you're a seafood lover looking for a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend giving Dundees a try. You won't be disappointed!

Firstly, when we arrived at 5:00 PM, we were informed that we need to leave by 6:30 PM. However, later we were told that customers are entitled to a two-hour dining period. This was just the beginning of our disappointing experience. After placing our order, we requested that dessert be served after our main course. Then twenty minutes passed without any service or acknowledgment when we finished entrees. Upon inquiry, the waiter apologized and promptly brought our mains, but the steak was tough, unpalatable, and had a bitter taste that did not match our specified doneness. The manager came and compensated us with four drinks, but two of them were incorrect…!! It was ridiculous, even the compensation was wrong!!!

Subsequently, we asked for dessert to be served. A tall waiter showed us a dessert sample and asked us what we wanted to order. We said we had ordered it and could just serve it, but there was no further information. After an additional twenty-minute wait, dessert had still not come, prompting us to cancel our order. Finally, a lady in a blue shirt informed us that the best she could offer was a 10% discount and referred us to the restaurant owner for further issues, stating she could do nothing more.

This entire experience was unacceptable. It is evident that the staffs require better training. I'll tell people around me to avoid this restaurant and post about it on...
