I attended an event here as part of the Cairns Italian Festival which was an Opera. $125 ticket included 3 hours of beverages and substantial food. Our table in the first hour were only once offered food which I had 2 arancini balls. The second hour was amazing Opera singers and entertainment. In the 3rd hour a waiter came to our table with a tray of small meatballs which I took 2. I was told I could only have 1 and to put 1 back - are you serious! Was told that they needed to go around. I was not expecting dinner but as advertised and paid for expected substantial canapes and not to be told like a child to put one back. I was more than embarrassed in front of my guest who was up from Melbourne to the point that I left. I can see I am not the only one who had this experience and can see the Cafe explains that some people were greedy and took more which does that now mean that others miss out ! Bad experience totally embarrassed wont be back

My favourite cafe in Cairns! I’ve been coming here for breakfast since it opened and although I no longer live in Cairns I come back regularly and always come to wharf one for breakfast and Eggs Benny. There’s heaps of variety on the menu, and lots of drinks options. The food and service here has always been consistently good. They definitely have the best, most scenic location in Cairns, right on the waterfront looking over the inlet to the mountains in the east.

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Wharf One Cafe. From the initial planning months ago right up until our wedding day, it was a seamless and stress free process with Peter, Grace and the team doing everything they could to assist. The food and beverage options that we chose were outstanding, and well received by our guests. Grace and the team who worked on the night provided exceptional service, but also made our wedding fun and enjoyable for both us and our friends and family. The whole team worked incredibly hard all evening and really exceeded our expectations. The venue itself is beautiful and in a great location and would highly recommend booking it for a private function, or just to come for breakfast or lunch during the day. Thanks Peter and Grace for everything you did - both before and on our special day. Our wedding was amazing and we will always remember everything you both did to make it so special.

A Dream Come True at Wharf One Café: Our Wedding Day Reflections

Yesterday was nothing short of magical. As we sit back and reflect on our wedding day, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude, joy, and love. Every moment—from the first step down the aisle to the last dance under the stars—was simply perfect. And we owe so much of that perfection to the incredible team at Wharf One CafĂ©.

The Ceremony & Scenery: Nature’s Backdrop at Its Finest

We couldn’t have asked for a more breathtaking setting. The natural beauty surrounding Wharf One CafĂ© created a serene and romantic atmosphere that felt like something out of a fairytale. With the water glistening nearby and the sun casting a golden glow, our ceremony was framed by the kind of scenery that photographers dream of. It was intimate, elegant, and unforgettable.

The Service & Food: Five-Star Everything

From the moment our guests arrived, the service was impeccable. The staff at Wharf One CafĂ© went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, and the food—oh, the food!—was absolutely divine. Fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and tailored to our tastes. Our guests are still raving about it!

The Team: True Professionals with Heart

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding the right venue. But the team at Wharf One Café made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were evident in everything they did. They listened, they cared, and they delivered beyond our expectations.

The Venue: A Hidden Gem That Has It All

Wedding venues are hard to come by, especially ones that tick every box. Wharf One CafĂ© is that rare gem that truly has it all—stunning views, versatile spaces, exceptional service, and a team that genuinely wants your day to be perfect. Whether you’re planning a small gathering or a grand celebration, this place can accommodate every need. You will not be disappointed.

To the entire team at Wharf One Café: thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You helped create a day we will cherish forever, and we are so grateful for your part in our love story.

With love, The Newlyweds Hayden...

If you are visiting Cairns do not fail to have breakfast or lunch or both at Wharf One Café Cairns. On Friday and Saturday nights you can have dinner as well at Wharf One. Perhaps have a walk or a sleep between visits! A fabulous location situated right on the wharf next to where the large passenger liners berth disgorging many hundreds of guests. Doubtless a fact not overlooked by Will and his partner Kaz the friendly and hardworking proprietors.

There is a large car park adjacent and it is only a few minutes walk from the centre of town and most large hotels. The café is an open design with tables located under a roof with fans or out on the wharf with both the views and the breeze.

There is nothing I could find on the menu that I did not want to eat. Unfortunately, time and the size of my stomach conspired against me although I gave it a good shot. Clever food combinations produced great flavours with an unambiguous policy of sourcing and using the best of local produce wherever possible. How they manage to create it from the relatively small kitchen is a miracle by itself.

The non-alcoholic drinks are so good I would almost give up alcohol although happily not entirely and there is a limited but thoughtful wine list. I assume it's not for breakfast as well but who knows
it is Far North Queensland! Eh!

The staff is friendly relaxed and helpful with no hint of the “attitude” often found in Sydney and Melbourne. The patrons, probably called customers in Cairns, are a mix of visitors, ship passengers and locals many of whom are “regulars” This is a good sign. A number of the people I spoke with enjoying their lunch had been there regularly for breakfast as well although I forgot to ask if they were staying for dinner.

Don’t miss Wharf One in Cairns, Far North Queensland. By the way, the dress code up there is pretty casual as with most of the area so you don’t need to dress up. Someone mentioned black thongs were considered formal! Just joking, I think.

Ask for Will or Kaz, they are both fonts of local knowledge and quite entertaining. Tell them Peter from...

You asked for it:

I attended a private function here on Friday evening, and my experience was concerning. A bar chair collapsed beneath me, causing me to fall and injure my knees. Instead of offering an apology, the owner, Peter, simply took the chair away without any concern for my well-being. When my friend asked to speak with the owner, Peter stated he was the owner, and that was the end of it—no apology, no care.

I chose not to argue at the time because I didn't want to ruin my friends' evening, but I feel this needs to be shared. I anticipate that my review may lead to defensive responses, as I’ve seen in past reviews, but I believe the welfare of others is far more important than the risk of being publicly shamed. One moment I was enjoying time with friends, and the next I was on the floor with grazed knees and no appetite. My knees are now quite sore and swollen, and I feel lucky I wasn’t elderly, as the consequences could have been much worse.

Additionally, after ordering three cocktails, I stepped outside for ten minutes. Upon my return, I found only one cocktail prepared. I was told they assumed I had left, despite having paid. I was then informed that only one person could make cocktails, so I would have to wait until he finished serving food.

This experience has left me disappointed and concerned about safety and service. I hope this feedback prompts some reflection and...
