Nagano Sushi — Restaurant in Cannington

Have had a positive experience overall just until mid October. The old lady behind the counter seems to need to retire; either she's unable to hear clearly or she has very poor customer service. My sister bought a mixed deluxe pack which didn't have the complimentary soy sauce pack. When she returned to approach the staff, the younger lady was ready to hand her a pack, however, the older lady denied this and asked for 20c. When she had told them that the pack didn't have one, she was adamant for the 20c. I only heard about this when she was finished, but I wanted to know why she had to pay the extra 20c when every other of the mixed deluxe boxes had it. When approached, the situation was explained, the younger lady again was happy to give me the pack of soy sauce but I had explained to her that I'm not after the soy sauce but instead curious why she had to pay the 20c. This time the older lady was adamant my sister didn't say her box didn't have it. If my sister had said that she would have given it to her. I reckon if she had listened, she would have heard my sister saying it as the entire time I was there, she was yapping away. Upon checking with my sister, I confirmed with the older lady that she said it and she still wasn't willing to listen and so I left... There are so many other sushi places in Carousel, I don't think we'll rely on this place if the older lady is there again.

Recently I heard others complaining about the older lady too. Just because she’s old, it doesn’t give her the rights to be have such an abrasive personality.

On the other hand, every other staff that I've encountered seems great...

my friend and i came here at a fairly busy time so it was hard to find a seat in the food court. i got the katsu prawn curry - the curry is really nice and the prawn is crunchy and entirely edible (even the tail which i didn’t know until 2 months ago). it’s very fresh overall so don’t burn your mouth ripping into the prawn lmao.

tempura is neat, particularly the prawn. i do question the cultural authenticity of the vegetable tempura pancake though. might just be taste but i wasn’t the biggest fan of this one...

Worst Japanese meal. Ordered dine in teriyaki chicken with rice $13.90. Portion was small. Picture is after I combined the rice with the chicken. Chicken was covered with cabbage trying to camouflage the small serve. Chicken wasn't sliced completely through so when you picked up a piece, it was linked to the rest of the chicken like a concertina. No knife. Plus hard bits requiring separation. Also tasted raw....
