A Japanese restaurant with a interesting and extensive menu that's both familiar and yet a little different. As you walk in, there's a main dining room with your usual table configurations, and to the left is a semi private dining room with traditional sunken seating for a more special experience for groups.
We were a small group and tried quite a few dishes. The main dishes, largely dons, we ordered were average. The eel was a bit rubbery and sweet, the teriyaki was a decent standard but the sauce a bit salty, the Udon was average in taste, and the pork ribs was nicely well braised but the sauce again a bit too salty. Raw scallops are juicy and sweet. Eel served on rice is tender in texture. Salmon on sushi roll is notably fresh, with decent amount of fried prawn and avocado inside each. Squid is well-grilled but still juicy. Spicy beef focuses on hotness, unlike a lot of caterers which bundle "sweet" and "hot" together.
There's room for improvement, though, as preparation time is a bit longer than expected, but I'd rather wait than having...
