After recently moving to the city and Kingston in particular, I've wanted to try the local coffee places and I'm always one to give a number of chances to a cafe before I write it off as a dud.
The first couple of times I've visited B&T, coffee has been fine, albeit slow. Which, given the slower pace compared to Sydney, this didn't bother me too much.
First instance, the cafe flat out missed our coffee order. Whilst it may have been somewhat busy, I'd expect the staff to notice that a customer had been standing in the waiting area for over 20 minutes. When approached, they told us that the receipt had been moved to the 'completed' pile so the coffee was in no chance going to be made. Whilst annoyed, I let it slide.
For the instances that followed, coffees continuously take longer than they should to be made. Regardless whether there is 5 customers or 50.
Lastly, we ordered coffees in the New Year and our order was wrong for both coffees. Having being charged $13.60 for TWO coffees, I’d have expected the order to at least been correct.
While I appreciate the friendly customer service on all occasions, it’s disappointing that for a place with such a high rating, they lack attention in such an important area. I’m yet to find a coffee spot in the ACT to call my go to, but this will...
Read moreWhen we arrived late-morning the place was not busy by any means. We were told to sit where we liked so we chose a table which was still waiting to be cleared and cleaned, as it was the only single available inside. We waited... and waited... and waited, as we watched staff clean other tables but ignore ours which was covered with empty coffee cups and glasses. Our coffees arrived and were placed on the table. It was only after I asked the staff member to clean our table that it was done. When the food arrived, although it looked good, I could not see value for money in the $22 Eggs Benedict, with one lonely slice of sourdough toast, 2 eggs, 2 small rashers of bacon and a sprinkling of spinach. It was, however, quite tasty. The same can't be said for the Breakfast Wrap. This comprised egg the consistency of a heavy omelette, a couple of rashers of bacon inside a soft tortilla. To describe it as bland is generous. The promised tomato relish was missing, resulting in a dry and stodgy offering. My guest could only eat a few mouthfuls before our plates were whisked away by a staff member who didn't even bother to ask whether there was a problem with her meal. On a positive note, the coffees were good but not so good that I would risk returning for further...
Read moreBean and Table Cafe, nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Burley Griffin, is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. The cafe's stunning location provides a serene backdrop for a meal that I won't soon forget.
The menu at Bean and Table Cafe boasts top-quality food, and I had the pleasure of indulging in their delectable offerings. The blueberry pancakes were a true standout, bursting with flavor and accompanied by just the right amount of maple syrup. The breakfast wrap was another winner, with fresh ingredients and a satisfying combination of flavors.
What truly impressed me were the corn fritter waffles – a unique and delicious twist on a classic dish. The crispiness of the waffles paired perfectly with the savory corn fritters, creating a delightful contrast that made every bite a treat.
The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall charm of the cafe, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're seeking a peaceful lakeside breakfast or a leisurely brunch, Bean and Table Cafe is the perfect destination for top-quality food and a serene atmosphere that complements the beauty of Lake Burley Griffin.
