We 12 people were there a couple of week ago for the meal after a long tired day as we were from Sydney to visit ACT. We ordered food and Had to wait for long time and as soon as food started to came in our table, they started to taking out all the ontray plate and wine glass and we feel so disrespectful that why didn’t they do before serving food. I told to the manager to heat a food for my husband which was brought from home she replied that they can’t do so due to the policy ok I can understand but my husband have allergic to outside restaurants food and even he was not feeling well. Neways I have to give him cold food and when he started to put that food in the plate to eat that cold food, that manager came and said that ‘you can’t eat here’ and she told him to put that food which was in plate to the tiffin box and without informing she took that , kept in the Counter area so disgusting she behaved so rude and treated us as a child. This is not the only thing happened we were just having conversation and eating meal, waiter just started to collect our plate Where the food was still there ....with rush and poured food in some of the frens cloths. We feel like they wanted us to leave the table and eventhough their restaurant was not busy. While paying time i taked to the manager and she replies SORRY but that’s not the thing. I think owner should know and think about this. So disrespectful waiters and low class service. 👎🏼😡😡 I would never recommend any frens...

Chong Co is a chain of Thai restaurants, much like Kinn Thai or Holy Basil. The Chong Co in Kingston is exactly like all the others, right up to the serene Buddha statue. Its location on Kingston Foreshore amplifies this serenity and gives it a touch of elegance.

The food and drinks menu is extensive. There are some great fried entrees, crunchy and dripping in oily goodness. (Slightly undermining the elegance factor, but these are crowd favourites missing from more hoity toity Asian fusion places) We were served net/lace crab rolls which didn't contain crab, it had baby shrimp and shiitake which was nevertheless quite tasty. As for the prawn rolls, they had been dunked in a doughy fish&chip shop type batter before being wrapped in a wonton wrapper. The stir fry type dishes look more like a Chinese stir fry & meat/vege ratio is low enough to be noticeable, but not enough to call them stingy. There's also chicken, duck and pork salad for the health conscious. Most of the dishes are clichéd Thai dishes you see in every Thai restaurant like red curry, green curry, massaman, pad Thai.

Service is good, 4/5. ( The reason for this review having 4 stars instead of 3). Staff were pleasant and accommodating. You have enough time to enjoy your meal, the same can't be said for Kinn Thai or Zaab. Chong Co is great for families and large groups. Recommended dish: lamb ribs. Fried tofu appetizer looked great, but did not...

I don't often write negative reviews but this deserves a special effort. Myself and 5 friends arrived and ordered 5 banquets (one of our friends wasn't particularly hungry she just wanted a few entrées). As we started eating we noticed 4 or 5 staff members talking about us. Eventually a staff member walked up to us and told us they would order six banquets. We explained this wasn't necessary as we had adequate amount of food. They said they would speak to the manager. The manager came over and said that if there were 5 people eating the banquet they would need to order 6 meals and not 5. We pointed out that we could have 20 people eating 4 banquets if we wanted as it was our choice and could not see how the establishment would be out of pocket. Finally they agreed. We had almost finished the mains (which were quite tasty) when my girlfriend discovered a large staple in the middle of one of her pieces of pork. We all immediately ceased eating and called the manager over. She offered us a 10% discount and offered to re cook the meal. Upon leaving we were offered two movie tickets which would have been reasonable had there not been six of us. Frankly the level of service was shocking compounded by the fact that there was a staple in our main. Won't be going back to this franchise given there are so many other great Asian places on Kingston. We're extremely lucky...

Chong Co Thai Restaurant Kingston Foreshore Visited on -5/3/2021 After taking a stroll at the foreshore, this restaurant was picked for our last dine out to end our vacation from Melbourne. The restaurant lit up in yellow lighting looked great from the foreshore, with some diners enjoying their meals outside. The ambience was good, even great for a romantic date. It was a nippy evening, and two tables were joined together for eight of us just near the drafty front door. Could it be due the COVID restriction that the door was left open to let the cold wind circulate? The waitress messed up the order. Strictly speaking, there should be two separate orders, each table paid for their own. No wonder the dishes were placed on the wrong tables. The presentation of the food except the fried rice was excellent, but the taste of a couple of dishes was overly salty and sweet. In fact, they did taste very similar. The pork ribs was nicely glazed, but could have been better if they were a bit meatier. The soft shell crab and the squid were batteredthe same, they were as good as I expected. The special cashew nut fried rice with crispy roast pork was a let down. If my taste buds did not fail me, I believe too much fish sauce was used.

You should be embarrassed by the food that you serve here. Ordered in dishes in via UberEats as we just weren’t in the mood to get out on a Saturday night after a long day. I understand that quality can drop when you get food delivered, but this has been taken in to account before posting this review. The roti and peanut sauce - roti was dry, obviously frozen (dare I say Costco) rubber bread, the peanut sauce tasted like it was crunchy peanut butter watered down with sugar and water. Char kway teow and pad Thai, literally the same dish but with different noodles, barely a piece of chicken in sight. You’d think a Thai restaurant would at least get pad Thai right. Green chicken curry - bland overcooked chicken breast served in a sugary watery “curry” that was clearly made from paste out of a can. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT WASTEE YOUR MONEY. I’ve eaten better pre-prepared microwaved meals (Thai green curry) from Coles and Woolworths.
