Edited to 4 stars. i went back for the boneless chicken and it was better than the first time. I'll also be trying the duck again given the owners response from below. the price is still a little high for the serving size but the flavour may be worth it. I'll see.
An underwhelming experience given its potential.
I first tried the duck and rice from Lucky Duck and was truly dissapointed. an $18 dish for what was essentially 150grams of duck, and in true hawker style came as mostly cartilage and bone. The duck was also stone cold which was unexpected considering it appeared to be under a heat lamp. Perhaps just a normal light. All in all a small serving at an incredible mark up.
I got to view an assortment of dishes from each restaurant as well which proved to confirm that my dish wasn't the only small serving going. And this viewing was a result of the QR code system failing to notify diners that their meals were ready. These QR codes were provided on flimsy cardboard poorly adhered to tables.
At this point the glamour has been lost and I'm seeing problem after problem. The stool seating provided along the front of the restaurants has nowhere to sit your feet. Enjoy dangling your legs while you eat your meal if you aren't 6'4"+.
The saving grace was the chicken at Sticky Beak which tasted as delicious as it looked. Though I was dissapointed that they weren't serving boneless at all on this day.
Overall barely...
Read moreWould've given this more than 2 star but I have to say the food was decent enough to add the additional star to originally a 1 star review. Was asked by the cleaning lady to leave the premises as my 3yo was having an avocado sushi roll bought from outside (as 3yo can be picky eaters, and they don't sell in tiger lane) while my wife was ordering food within tiger lane. The cleaning lady asked (in Mandarin which I don't understand) to leave by pointing to a sign and pointing outside. We were close enough to the entrance of tiger lane that I asked my three year old to stand up and take two steps to eat on the tv dance floor area entrance while I was managing my other two girls under two, even asking the cleaner in English to wait with my two girls whilst I take the 3yo to eat her sushi outside. My wife saw the commotion from a distance and had to jump out of queue as she was ordering food to confront the lady as it was visible that I was managing three kids under 4 all at the same time. Wasn't too happy with the whole experience as it wasn't how I wanted to start the weekend. Would've said this place is family friendly but after tonight's experience I have to say I wouldn't go back as I don't want to deal with that in the future. Tried once and never again. Good luck trying to be like Hawker Lane in Chatswood or Burwood, you'll never meet...
Read moreI leave this review in the hopes it will help this company improve. Being Hong Kong Chinese I was very disappointed in the food. The meat was over cooked the steamed vegetables were just sad, and nothing had enough flavour except the scallion soup. That was the only thing tasty. The service was lacking and I’m assuming the company is quite new so needs to work on improving in service and more experience required for the staff. I wanted to order combination 3 but the crackling pork was sold out so I asked if we could get combination 2 with the duck and char siu and the girl at the register said that’s not possible. So then I asked if we could just get the lucky duck rice and char siu on top again not possible. All I wanted was 2 options of meat and rice. The chef was good enough to finally offer the duck and char siu for the combination 2 price. The girl at reception was clearly inexperienced and would not make anything easy. I also heard a girl come and request for a refund because she had waited for 30 min for her food and when she got it it was cold. The whole district looks really cool but the food in this place seems to be not at a level to match. I hope you find ways to improve it so you get...
