I've been to Volstead Repeal twice now, I'm glad I went back a second time before reviewing. As all the things that could've been improved from the first visit had been addressed. The new door is a very welcome addition, the first time we went there we were seated near the old door and had to shut it multiple times. The new door and blinds give it a cosy, hidden away and private feel. I'm not a whiskey drinker, however all the cocktails I've had have been delicious and the talented bar staff whipped up an off menu classic cocktail last night, which was also fantastic. The charcuterie board was generous in size and tasty, the person who served that was so lovely and friendly carefully explaining each of the cheeses, something that was lacking last visit. Each and everytime they came to our table they were chatty and friendly. The pizza was cooked to perfection. The person who seated us provided us with customer service of the highest standard. Warm greeting, chatty without being intrusive but most importantly she knew the menu and recommended cocktails excellently. I don't drink gin, and she recommended a few cocktails for me. Explaining what each tasted like. The team last night was brilliant, best service we've received in a very long time. We can't wait to come back for more deliciousness. Love what you're doing guys, it's a great place. Definitely worth a visit if you like interesting cocktails and great service.

This place is like a hidden gem, seriously. Walked past it twice before realizing the entrance is this barely-marked door, and once you’re in, it feels like you’ve discovered something secret. You step into this dark, moody space where every seat is wrapped in deep green leather. Feels kinda like one of those old-school New York bars that only insiders know about. It's not actually underground, but the vibe is just as cool and discreet, with low lights and cozy booths. Drinks are on the pricier side, but it’s clear they put some serious care into them. Had an Old Fashioned (perfectly balanced) and tried a spicy margarita that had just the right kick. The bartenders definitely know what they’re doing and had a few off-menu suggestions if you’re up for trying something different. The menu is a bit hard to read in the dim light, but you can always ask; they’re pretty friendly and happy to make recommendations. Food-wise, it’s more about the bar snacks – think sliders, a pretty solid charcuterie board, things that go well with drinks. Portions are on the smaller side, so it’s definitely more of a “come for the drinks, snack a bit” kinda place than a full dinner spot. Overall, a great spot if you’re into low-key, intimate places with that hidden-away feel. Ideal for bringing a date or a few friends who appreciate a chill but classy vibe. It’s popular, so maybe show up early if you want a booth – they fill up fast!

Just wanted to check this place out since they've recently opened. It's pretty easy to find as it's marked with a big "V". They are missing an inside door handle so guess there are few more touch ups to be done. The interior is quiet and beautiful, dark green walls and leather, and a wall of drinks to choose from. Floorplan/styling is like Corella, but cosier. Volstead has this calm and self assured minimalism - there's just enough to make the space interesting, and no more. Too bad I was driving that night. Will probably edit this review when I've visited again. The bartender freestyled a non alcoholic drink. They seemed to know their stuff and it was pretty chilled.

I ended up choosing ‘Volstead Repeal’ a small gathering for my husband and close friends and it was undeniably the perfect choice.

This lounge is a hidden gem tucked away in Mort Street, Braddon. As you walk to the obscure location through a dark corridor to the lounge, you hear nothing, wondering if you are in the right place until you see a beautifully etched door with VR.

You open the door and it’s an exquisite feast for your eyes, chesterfield lounges, dimmed lights, a tinge of red and classy feel. The sound of cocktails been shaken, whiskeys been poured and the smells of delicious food is all there. I was only there for a moment before the VR staff welcomed me to the location and they too were seen to be enjoying the environment themselves.

The VR location has varying options to choose from, be it for a simple glass of your favourite wine, beers and boilermakers, cocktails or food.

For this special evening, I chose the ‘Classic - Whiskey Tasting’ session for them to enjoy. I was not present for this session, however I was present for their return home and there was nothing but exchanges in pleasantries about VR.

Thank you ‘Volstead Repeal’ for...
