If I could give you zero stars I would. It is very sad day for our tight knit community to see how horribly such beautiful community members of Evans Head have been treated by the RSL Club Board & Management. The town was heaving with excitement at Taphouse's intended opening back in August, delay after delay ensued. To read tonight you've cancelled them is a complete a disservice to your members, the community and the tourists that won't arrive. The unique design, interior and customer experience planned with meticulous detail and with many hours/money invested into what would have been a community first venue is lost. It was more than a concept this project for the people behind it was a mammoth 12 month investment. For this decision to be so flippantly overturned speaks volumes to your poor management. We have been guests at all 6 Backyard Sessions held at the RSL Club, delivered by local volunteers to support live music during COVID while elevating local artists to get paid to perform original music. We know they'll continue somewhere. We can't wait to buy a ticket to your next gig where-ever you land. Thanks for giving it a shot Taphouse crew we'll be here to catch you. We will not be supporting The RSL Club venue until we see an attempt to reconcile what this couple have lost. We encourage visitors alike to frequent the other wonderful venues in Evans Head as a sign of solidarity....
Read moreWe went to the RSL for the Robertson brothers show which was fantastic, but made the grave mistake of deciding to eat at the Bistro beforehand. What an absolute debacle. We had never been there before but booked a table for an hour and a half before the show thinking we would have plenty of time - BIG Mistake. Not only had we to find our own table with a reserve sign, but had to join the line snaking through the tables for half an hour before we could order - no social distancing here. When we got to the front of the queue to order we were told sorry if you're going to the show your options are limited - not enough time. We ordered the lamb shanks and vegetables, one hour later with moments to spare before the show started, our meal arrived. The lamb was tender with a rich salty gravy and mash, but the rest of the vegetables were inedible. Carrots, broccoli and cauliflower were raw and cold, I think they forgot to cook them, either that or they just waved them over the hotplate. We quickly ate what we could, then attended the show, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Would I go to the Bistro again, never in a million years, not unless they get their act together and get organised. Sorry guys, your Bistro needs a total...

The food was nice - I enjoyed the lamb cutlets. The seafood pasta just seemed like it had a store creamy sauce with it… seafood was great but the sauce could do with some work.
The reason for taking off a star is due to the trivia lady. We parked our van outside and came in. We are a younger couple in our late 20s, and she confronted us saying we couldn’t camp there, we said we weren’t as we are staying at reflections…she said ‘you better not’. I found this so rude… mind your business and don’t tell us what to do. I bet she wouldn’t have confronted an older couple. I felt like I was being scolded by an old granny. What is with this town and grumpy old people?
When she was running the trivia, you could barely understand her. She couldn’t pronounce basic words as was mumbling. She basically sat down the whole time until she had a few drinks and then was getting in people’s faces. A...
