Being locals, my wife and I thought we’d give this place a try as we had visitors from Sydney we hadn’t seen for a while. Spoiler alert: This was the worst dining experience the four of us have collectively had the misfortune of paying through the nose for. We ordered for starters the gilda: anchovy - roasted capsium - olive - guindilla pepper - romesco @ $5 each. This constituted one small anchovy, half a small green olive, a slither of capsicum and a pickled pepper skewered on a large tooth pick on a bed of what could only be described as a bean paste let alone said romesco! The pork belly was dry and served with nothing other than being on bed of bean paste, again.
The prawns were battered, placed on a plate and sprinkled with what appeared to be nothing more than a mixed herb salt. The plating and presentation of all this food was a disgrace particularly for the ridiculous prices. This restaurant smacks of someone who watches Master Chief and has an over inflated opinion of their culinary skills. My suggestion would be if this place is to survive, would be to hire someone who can actually cook and put a menu together. Oh and as for the menu itself. These were printed on what could be described as similar to fax paper, unreadable in places. In the end, the locals will be either the life blood, or the death of Verde, and from our experience it’s headed for...
Read moreWe have chosen Verde for our first dinner after arriving Forster, however it was one of the worst experience that we have ever had. First, the service was very slow. There was only one waitress for the whole venue. You have to order everything you want in one go, or otherwise you will need to wait for at least 30 minutes for the waitress to come back to your table. Like we have tried to order a cup of ice and a drink in the mid way of our dinner. We couldn’t have it until we chased up for a second time in 30 minutes. Second, the food quality were pretty bad. We ordered 2 scallops which cost $9 each. However the scallops served were literally mini and over cooked. Seasoning were also over. After like 40 minus after we finished our starter, we finally had our main dishes, the steak and chicken marryland. The steak again is overcook like a charcoal… not sure if this is their style. The chicken was also serviced as a normal deep fried chicken leg with some cream sauce on top. They were so not worth for their price. Luckily on the second day, we went to somewhere that cost similar price with verde, but their food...
Read moreSo disappointing. Second time I have been to Verde but never again. Booked online for 7.30pm. When we arrived we were ignored. Then seated at a table that was not even set. Not asked if we would like a drink. Looking around, the other patrons looked frustrated. The waitress was out of her depth and the manager the same. After 10 minutes I asked for some water for the table. That seemed a stretch. The menu was in so little type face that I had to take a photo of it and read it on my phone. We knew the experience was not going to get better as the vibe in the restaurant was getting worse. We decided to leave. I'm sure they didn't notice. What really bothered us was that it is an expensive restaurant. That is fine, but the service was no where near what you would expect. From reading other reviews we...
