Let me start this review with a clarification. The only thing this place has in common with a Hotel are the room. Everything else is more to the likes of a Hostel. So lower your expectations when you expect to find a traditional "Hotel". It's not but thats ok. Let me tell you why. Me and my brother stayed for 3 nights there. We expected a classic Hotel when we arrived. What we found were a couple rooms above a Bar. We booked a Room with two separate beds but got a room with a double bed. I like my brother but not that close. The staff in the bar helped us quickly and upgraded our room free of charge. As far as I am aware does every room have a TV,a mini fridge, a kettle and Fans. Inside the rooms we had i spotted no Ac's but that wasn't a problem for us. The rooms were clean and the complimentarys were much appreciated. Now to a bit of a bummer. The so called kitchen is a shared space with a sink a microwave and a assortment of cutlery and dishes. To stove or oven. Cooking is practically not possible if you cant put it in the microwave. At the moment you are far better of eating in the bar downstairs or around the Hotel. We actually did eat in the Bar and can definitely recommend it. In our trip through Australia we are still yet to find a Chicken parmy that satisfies my brothers expectations after eating one there. But back to to the Hotel. The rooms are mostly located above the Bar. That means when they have events and louder music at general, you will hear it. I recommend ear buds or if you can arrive after the events are done. Or better participate if you like 😉. The Bathroom is a shared one with the only separation between man and woman is the label on the stalls next to each other. We didn't mind that but Others might do. There is also a bathtub available if you fancy baths over showering. If you want to wash your clothes then you can do it as well. There is a washing machine and a dryer available. Regarding the service there is no room for complaints. The whole staff was great. From the managers to the barkeepers very nice individuals that always want to help you. The best thing is that they listen to your feedback if you give it to them. They are aware that there are things to be taken care of but it's way more easier if guests tell them what could be done. For example I asked them to maybe provide more than just a microwave. At least a toaster would be nice. No one likes soggy bread. And they said they look into it. If you stay at the Wray Hotel and find a Toaster in the kitchen. Your welcome. Talk to the people. They are happy to help you make your stay as pleasant as possible. The location is rather on the outskirts of Perth. Everything necessary is within walking distance. Pharmacy on the other side of the road, a grocery store about a kilometre downwards and the beaches maybe 20 min away. There is lots to see and its quieter than the main city. That i can only assume because we didn't venture far into the eastern part of Perth. You'll have plenty of things to do and see if you stay there. I know where i will stay if i ever come back to Perth ☺️
For us its a solid 4.5/5 stars. TLDR: Its a Hostel with hotel rooms. Very nice staff and a good position in town if you don't like the busie city. Tne kitchen can't really be called a kitchen and sometimes the music is loud enough that you hear it in your rooms. The food and drinks down in the bar are great though. Give feed back to the staff they want to here it. They cant make things better if you don't tell them...
Read moreBeing a business owner myself I know the importance of non-bias feedback. We had the pleasure of interacting with Nikita, one of the staff members at The Wray Hotel in Fremantle, Western Australia. Nikita’s exceptional service truly made my stay memorable. Her warm and friendly demeanor immediately put me at ease, and she went above and beyond to ensure that I had a pleasant experience during my visit.
Nikita’s attention to detail was remarkable. She anticipated our needs and provided timely assistance, whether it was recommending local attractions, helping with my room arrangements, Her genuine care for guests was evident, and it made a significant difference in our overall visit.
Moreover, Nikita’s knowledge of the hotel’s wine and beverage list was impressive. She guided us through the menu, suggesting delightful pairings for our meals. I particularly enjoyed the mouth-watering Aussie pub classics, such as lamb shanks and steaks sourced from local Princi Butchers. Nikita’s passion for good food and drink was contagious, and it enhanced my dining experience.
In addition to her professional competence, Nikita created a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere. Whether we were dining alone or with friends, she made sure everyone felt comfortable and valued. Her positive energy radiated throughout the hotel, making it a place where guests could relax, unwind, and enjoy affordable fun.
Overall, Nikita’s exceptional service, warm personality, and dedication to guest satisfaction truly set her apart. I commend her for making our stay at The Wray Hotel an outstanding one, and I look forward to returning soon for another...
Read moreWorst hotel room I ever had in the whole world! I cannot recommend it!
It heavily rained through a hole in the roof directly on our bed. Unfortunately we only noticed while waking up at about 2 am because the linen and sheet was soaking wet.
Sleeping then was almost impossible. I couldn't find any personal to help, so we had to sleep in a soaked bed.
When we checked in I had noticed water stains on rhe roof but thought that was from a long time ago and expected the hole in rhe roof was fixed. So it is obvious that this also had happened in the past and hasn't been fixed yet!
I'm totally upset and unhappy. You can't rent a room like this! The main purpose of the room wasn't given - a save shelter and place to sleep.
Later, I tried to contact the hotel on telephone and email, but the hotel did never answer to either agoda or my attempts!
Besides that, the hotel was really bad concerning the following issues:
Most rooms right to a big main street with lots of noise.
The house is really old, so no noise protection at all.
You can hear the bar and restaurant downstairs (loud music on weekend until late). You can also hear your neighbors and people walking on the corridor to the shared bathroom.
Also there are bright lights outside, lighting the house and windows so that it never gets dark in the room.
They also switched off hot water while people were taking a shower - without telling before.
All in all the worst experience I had while traveling the whole world in 2 years. I...
