Came in last weekend after having lunch elsewhere and were lucky to get a table as it was so busy! I ordered the Cronut which was full of cream with a fresh strawberry on top and it was delicious. Crispy and chewy with more than enough cream. My husband had the vanilla slice and the custard was fantastic, but the icing on top was very thick which took away from the overall flavour of the slice. His coffee was okay, he said it was a little bitter. I had the hot chocolate which was pretty standard for a hot chocolate. Service was okay. Will definitely be back to try some of their pies and savoury foods!

The food It is award winning and beautiful The pies are a must to try and they have so many different varieties Mine was a beef, Bacon and cheese Followed up with a vanilla slice (also delicious) The service I felt was the area that could do with improvement Seemed like only one staff member was working This meant took time to get served. The atmosphere The location was perfect for where they are located in Gisborne very rustic However the issue I had was the tables and set up made it feel cluttered and cramped

Great bakery cafe for a coffee, sausage roll, sweet treats or breakfast/ lunch. Plenty of choices and loads of tables and chairs. The service can be a little slow at however the wait is worth it. Best coffee in Gisborne and the sausage rolls are pretty good as well. Worth a visit.

First visit today, just for a break from the Calder. Curious "Cornish" pasty from the pie oven was definitely microwaved - flopping all around in the bag - I had to chase it back and forth to get a bite. Not really a traditional Cornish, flaky pastry instead of shortcrust, and surprisingly not filled with vegetables but something resembling pasta sauce... Although I did spy a piece of carrot in there. Unusual, certainly edible, somewhat tasty, just not a Cornish pasty. My apple cake was very nice (shortcrust pastry!) but the casing for my daughter's custard tart was seriously lacking in structural integrity. Again, tasty, but a challenge to eat. Lovely staff, busy little place, obviously very popular with the locals. I might be a little more discerning with my...
