I recently had the pleasure of dining at Canteena Restaurant and I have to say it was an absolutely delightful experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, with a modern and stylish decor that immediately makes you feel at home.

As for the food, I must say that everything I tried was absolutely delicious. From the perfectly cooked steak to the mouth-watering seafood, each dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable.

The staff at Canteena were all very friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch from start to finish. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and were able to make excellent recommendations, which helped make the meal even more enjoyable.

Got served raw chicken ( inside was not cooked fully). When we raised it with them (very discreetly and politely) they promised to not charge for it but later at the counter they charged us anyway. Not happy with the food or service. Wouldn’t recommend.

To the owner: no you didn’t reimburse for the food, you reimbursed half of our drinks. And this dish was the stuffed chicken not pasta, so we had nothing else in it. The middle was raw and not a small part (considering the size of the chicken). The lady serving us was a good lady and promised to not charge. But I guess the chef decided that’s not reqd. And it’s not about small or big piece. You cannot serve raw chicken to customers. It’s a health hazard. Really...

such amazing service. They say it’s a busy restaurant, but the staff are just casually strolling around like it’s a catwalk.

I walked up to the counter to order, only to be told to sit down. Cool, no problem—then waited another 10 minutes before someone finally decided to grace us with their presence and take our order.

After waiting a solid 45 minutes, I asked if our food was on the way. The response? “No, we still have a big table to serve.”

I explained how long we’d been waiting and how stellar the service had been, and the response I got? A very heartfelt “ok.”

Can’t tell if it was racism or just peak Gisborne hospitality.
