The Flying Pigeon — Restaurant in Victoria

A true hidden gem! Great modern Asian food. Having been lucky enough to travel asia, I can say the food is equally on par if not better than any Asian food I’ve ever had. The dumplings were delicate and light served in a delicious light chilli infused coconut sauce. The mango salad had the perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty and spice. The chicken Saag curry with cashews was lighter in texture than most curries with incredibly flavour. The spinach base enhanced the chicken, coconut and cashew flavours rather than over powering them. The pancake with spring onions were the perfect accompaniment alingside the rice. We had the frozen dark chocoate moose with berries and smoked coconut - which it turned out to be the worlds best tasting version of a cherry ripe. Food was great but the logistics of the night really let it down, if these issues can be sorted out it would be amazing.

We were told we had a sitting from 6 till 7.30. Totally fine, plenty of time. Drink orders were wrong, food orders not taken until 6.45pm and last bits brought at 7.20pm, so obviously we did not finish at 7.30pm and other tables arrived. Also, the food arrived in 2 courses, seemingly random and no communication to us about it when ordering so the kids food didn't arrive, we got a couple of mains with the rice in the second course 🤔 and one order wrong, twice. The restaurant was obviously not busy so I have no idea why so many things went wrong.

Inside an unassuming frontage amidst business dwellings, lies a champion of a restaurant. The food here is exquisite. Truly delicate combining of flavours worth savouring and experiencing. The best vegan curry, dumplings, smashed potato and eggplant i have had in over a decade. The chefs here have paid close attention to their creations - you can taste the dedication to their craft. Amazing list of cocktails inclusive of very delicious mocktail options too. Have been here for dinner and for lunch. Surprised lunch time was quiet because if Flying Pigeon was situated in the inner city it would be booked out ahead of time and charging double the price. Its very reasonable pricing for the culinary expertise i do believe. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible...
