Can Tho Kitchen Bar — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I do not like to review even when its bad, but this was by far the worst experience I ever had eating out. Made booking online, wrote in the note my mum is strict vegan. She had travelled overseas to visit us in Australia, and we took her here due to the good reviews, but definitely never going to eat there again.

Had our food ordered and asked for all to come at once, but entree came first with admittedly good tasting spring rolls, however no share plates with six people on table and we had to repetitively ask for share plates and bowls for kids. It just went further downhill from here. Food came out one by one with small gaps and my vegan mum was served the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancakes)... with prawns, shockingly even after we had exclusively told them she is vegan when booking and also when ordering. Too late to realise she had some and felt disgusted, gone off to the restroom to vomit. She had been a strict vegan for over 4 decades! Other foods came out, the Pho was super salty and unedible for my children, felt like they had used instant powder/stock rather than boiling the bones like how real Pho are made, their Pho Kho(slow cooked beef) was no better and also tasted like a block of salt. Was only offered to take the Banh Xeo off the bill and no proper apologies. Cannot we were charged over $100 for this terrible experience. We have been very fortunate in being introduced to Can Tho Kitchen and Bar by our good friends and will be forever grateful to them for doing so. This place has become one of our favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast and we are regular diners there now. It never disappoints, each time. I can describe us as "foodies" and Can Tho is right up there in our view for dishes that are a zingy, fresh taste sensation. Standout favourite dishes on the menu for us are the "Laughing Bao" (THE very best baos we have had anywhere, hands down), the "Yummy Sizzling Chicken", the "Chicken Salad", the "Sizzling Beef", the shitake mushrooms and the green beans, not to mention the "Cassava coconut cake" we recently tried for dessert - to die for.
